Nothing more had been said about Katz's condition, everyone waiting for Doc Holiday's transport to arrive, and the critical surgery needed to save the Premier's life still laying ahead.

Alvarez shed his jacket, tossing it, along with his hat, into a chair as he poured himself a drink... something noxious called Bourbon.

He turned on the vid screen

In disgust, Alvarez turned the channel, looking for the latest broadcast of 'Shoot the fascist' frustrated by the lack of anything good on the 3000 channel digital set.

He threw the remote across the room, walking to the window and resting his head against it.

Out there Rhade was leading his men against the Volkhan... his men...

Rhade was a solid combat pilot, but was he up to the task of leading a resistance? That was a question Alvarez didn't want to answer. They had no choice, and as popular as Katz was... if he died, then the rebellion would die shortly there after.
