Markham's parents were well-to-do Bretonian socialites, spending a good portion of their time between the industrial powerhouse of Planet Leeds and the wealth of the Newcastle System. His father sought to groom Jackson, who was the oldest of his two sons, to be the heir to his financial assets one day and to learn the "game" as he lightheartedly called it.

Jackson's mother perished during the Nomad War in 800 AS after her transport was attacked by a Rheinland battle group while she was on a tour of mining operations in the Dublin System, which were recently acquired assets. Jackson, 17 standard years old at the time, chose to enter into the Armed Forces much to the objections of his father. By the time he'd completed training and earned a commission, the Nomad War had drawn to a close, leaving Markham without a means for vengeance.

He remained in the Armed Forces for a few years, but left after becoming frustrated with the constant and pointless skirmishes with Molly forces in Dublin. Having shown an aptitude for fighter combat and technical systems, Markham joined up with a small mercenary group as a mechanic and freighter pilot.

In 804 AS, Markham and his associates were contracted to knock over the new head of a small Bretonian manufacturing corporation for not honoring his debts. The job was to be easy enough - get in, take a shot, and get out. Jack was the freighter pilot on insertion and extraction. The station authorities had been tipped off, however, and the operation botched. Half the team ended up being arrested, Markham included, although not without a fight. It was during the failed escape that he lost his right eye after a fuel container exploded in the midst of a cargo bay firefight.

Markham was sentenced and confined on Newgate Prison Station for murder. He only served ten years, however, on account of "good behavior", although the newly christened "Patch" suspected his father and large sums of credits had something to do with the short stay.

After release, Markham moved to a place on Planet New London, but soon became frustrated with menial work. He met again with some of his contacts from before his lock-up and picked up some freelance work here and there, eventually moving into the Bretonia-Liberty border systems and up to the Taus. He proved to be a fairly effective solo man, able to maintain his own equipment. After a stay on Barrier Gate Station, Markham picked up more work that would eventually lead to his association with the Reavers. Markham still holds hope that one job might eventually take him out to Rheinland so he can finally have his vengeance against the dirty Krauts.

Current Employer:
Reaver Mercenary Company
Current location:
Barrier Gate Station, Coronado
Risk factor:
Moderate - Effective and focused for most tasks, however certain background uncertainties may lead to unpredictable actions. Can be headstrong at times. Rarely shows concern for his own safety. Especially when handling antimatter.
Diplomatic usefulness:
Moderate-high - Better suited to holding a wrench than to negotiating a cease-fire due to tendency to make colloquial quips. Skilled in financial negotiations due to familial background.

Note: Recently upgraded due to temporarily diffusing situation with //NORP ships. Then agitated them again.
Knowledge usefulness:
High - Mechanical skills, geographic knowledge of Bretonia, Taus, and Liberty.
Practical usefulness:
Low-Moderate - Keeps his head in combat, although generally predictable tactically. Usually good for backup in a fight.
Overall rating:
6/10 - Useful. Provides a rough skillset that can be refined with training.
