' Wrote:Not bad, Adam, not bad at all. Since I RP a doctor, I long ago suggested medical supplies. One person said, "well, we have pharmaceuticals" but those are drugs, not needles, I.V. tubes and such so the Med Kits would work.
FL version 2.29 had medical supplies in it.
I would also like to suggest coffee as a commodity. Most of us drink it so it fits. One must have the right climate for it so in RP, restrict it to a certain area for sale and due to demand, make it profitable.
I was thinking back to my robotech days where you could buy three types of med kits. I might think of a Field Surgeon Kit for patch-ups and rename the med kit to "the black bag" but no one would get that refference
Coffee, COFFEE! Why didn't I think of that! Done!
' Wrote:Hull COmponents are allready ship components. I would rename that to 'Ship Equipment' Rather then Components. Lot easyer for unders to understand
Medkits: Buy low deep in house space, sell heigher in places like leeds, where Kusaria and bretonia are often fighting. Medkits however should be approx the cost of water etcetera.
I do like to see commodotys like:
Station Parts (Gives ageira a sub from gatelane)
Mail bags (Gives universal shipping an alternate) Wheter or not, real mail will never dissapear.)
Jewerly
Building Parts (For planetairy houses
Beer (Aside from wine)
Gambling machinery: (bought far far far away from los angelus., sold at LA)
Militairy Equipment (We have got vehicles, Why not equipment, not every war is foguth in space)
I put 'ship components' as the title because when we repair our ship that 'component' repair thing for 243 credits comes out of no where. But I understand. I'm going to rename it 'Internal Ship Components' for less confusion.
To help along the same lines, Military Equipment can be Military Field Equipment to make it a tad more specific.
Station parts I was thinking about when I made defense turret parts. I'll think it over and see what I come up with
Mail? Well I'm sure Discovery still uses pen and paper, just seems redundant with forum chats, and interstellar communication.
Beer: after talking with some Bounty hunters, it's a go!
Gambling machines'¦..er'¦flying is a big enough gamble for me.
' Wrote:I've always found myself coming up with ideas for commodities. If no-one minds, I'll dump them here:
- Falsified IDs (Illegal)
Some people need to get from A to B. Some of those people may need to get from A to B without anyone knowing who they are, or that they are at B in the first place. As such, it is a high probability that falsified papers will be used to commit such an act.
- AI Datacores
Programmed and shipped, these AI cores can be implemented into a variety of tasks, from simple house keeping to ship navigation.
- Datapads
Used for a variety of purposes, the datapad is a necessary tool for everyone no matter who they are, what they do or where they do it.
- Luxury Vehicles
Planets are big. People need to get around on these big planets. Of those that do, quite a few want to do it in style.
- Empty Shipping Container
These containers are ofen used for a variety of shipping purposes. Problem is, they're sending them out along with the goods, and the people sending them sometimes need the containers back.
- Falsified IDs (Illegal)
You so beat me to that. With all the RP of 'illegal docking at station.' Reports, it only makes sense.
- AI Datacores
Thought about this, its more of a break off of the robot servants and nanobot control device I thought of. Tempting
- Datapads
And where the heck could I play my MP3s on? Done.
- Luxury Vehicles
Again, I thought about this one. It makes sense with all the other luxury things Im making
- Empty Shipping Container
Kina already have this with the cargo pods and stuff. These would be smaller versions, but a bit too redundant.
' Wrote:Don't discount the basic commodities! Here's a few I whipped up below. I was inspired by Gallia's fossil fuels among other things...
PALLADIUM
Palladium is a precious silvery-white metal. It finds many uses, such as in radiation shield alloys and as a catalyst in fuel cells. It is also beginning to supplant gold and platinum in the use of jewellry, owing to its sturdiness and the extreme rarity of the other two metals in Sirius.
XENON
Xenon is a colorless, odorless noble gas. Its uses are many and varied -- lighting flashtubes, a fuel in ion engines, a stimulant in lasers, and an anesthetic, just to name a few. Xenon is a rare component in the atmosphere of many planets, but can be found in relatively abundant in some space-borne pockets.
COAL
Coal is the remains of ancient organic material, compress into a rock-like form. It exists in relative abundance on many life-bearing planets. The use of coal was abandoned centuries ago, but it has enjoyed a resurgence of late. It can be burned to generate energy in a pinch, although this is a "quick and dirty" method. More commonly it is gasified into CO and elemental hydrogen, from which fusion isotopes can be extracted.
LNG
Liquefied Natural Gas is a mixture of methane, along with trace ethane and longer chain hydrocarbons, compressed into liquid form for easy storage. Like coal it is a byproduct of organic decay, and can generate energy either through direct combustion (somewhat more cleanly than coal), or reduced to hydrogen and its fusible isotopes. Unlike coal, LNG components can be found in space-borne gas pockets as well as on terrestrial planets.
All this stuff throws me back to Privateer 2. Where there is oil there has got to be coal right? More fuel for the Council's fire.
Xenon : don't we have that?
PALLADIUM: with all the P items I wonder if people will get confused.
LNG sounds like a refinement process but does seem right up their ally. I'll have to think about all that.
Sometimes, when all you want is to gain your freedom, you must be willing to risk it all.
