Suggests whatever local connection you use is poor - Phone line in case of DSL, coax in case of cable internet. Contact your ISP and have a tech run a signal check. It could also be a faulty modem or bad cabling in your home. Or, more likely, a bad wireless link between your computer and router. Without more info on your home setup and connection, not much more I can say.
well its a 28 meg max cable connection and actually only a FEW servers have this issue.. Like left 4 dead and battlefield and other games my ping and such is grand
The cabling in the house is brand new.. i was kinda a jerk to make sure thats the case. I adjusted my packet size and it has improved the ping a little bit..
The only thing i can think is its my ancient lynksys cable modem? my router is a nice one (cable port connection there only two pcs in the house.
So the next two tests are.. run a signal check.. And connectiont his pc straight to the modem and see if it gets better.
What could the router be set to to be dropping so many packets?
