Hades, I like what you did to the ship so far. I personally don't think the fins should've been removed, but the ship's cool nonetheless. I would also like to second Blodo and ask you to add the Hessian emblems back in. I think they were just too fitting and perfect as they were.
When it comes to consistency or whatever the hell everyone is on about, I personally don't care. This is supposed to be a battleship. Not an oversized fighter. It's big, it's ugly - in a stylish and Rheinland-ey way - and thus pretty on its own. I approve of it highly.
But for the sake of it because OH MY GOD CONSISTENCY, there is one single recommendation I can make, and that is circular engine nozzles. Aside from the Hessian Heimdall GB, I think every single Rheinland-made ship has circular engine nozzles, so I'd just say make yours more circular. Even though I realize that since you've been working on the rear end a lot that might require a wee bit more effort than you might approve of, it's the only thing I can think off to make it more "in-line" without butchering the model's overall feel too much. (You could possibly make the rear-end look even "rounder" as a whole when seen from behind this way, which would add to the whole Rheinland-feel and all, although personally I don't think it's really necessary.)
Something else I've noticed is, that in case the ship wouldn't get a forward gun, if you filled the visible gap between the "big-gun-structure" and the center hull section, we could always say later on that it was a strikecraft launch tube.
And keep up the good work, I think you're doing mighty fine. =)
