Like that? I suppose that it's either a question of game mechanics or question someone more experienced in Nomad roleplay should better answer. I always found it more interesting to ignore this kind of red on scanners and play according to ship and behavour of a certain individual.

There are a number of ways that one could detect a wild by conventional means. They're in human ships after all.

Presence of biologics. Either in the form of simply nomad weaponry to large scale nomad infestation.

Vessel registered as lost, either in modern times or one of the ancient nomad zombie ships. I've little doubt that Rheinland and Kusari have made a habit of marking any vessels "downed" in the field as hostile and that information freely available.

Just because the guy has an "ID" that you "Can't see" doesn't mean you can't fall back on other senses and good 'ol fashioned logic.
