5.2 All attacks must be the result of some form of role play. "Engaging" is not sufficient. An attack is any hostile action that drains shields to less than 50%. Being hit with a CD is not considered an attack. If a player is attacked he has a right to defend himself regardless of who is attacking.

Someone please explain this to me, cause obviously I miss the rule.

As far as little ol me knows, if you shoot someone and drain their shields below 50 % it is considered an attack. The rule explanation also states that any attack needs to have been Role-played to a point, i.e. Halt! is not enough.

However, apparently that is wrong. And this is right.

"YOU DO NOT HAVE TO HAVE MADE A DEMAND TO SHOOT AT A TRADER AS A PIRATE. ONLY IF YOU KILL HIM"

So, according to this, I can shoot and shoot some more and kill my intended target and then make a demand.

This rule needs to be rehashed cause it is causing major confusion. I thought my take was based on common sense but that was wrong and I have been told by a moderator to go re-read the rule. Which I have now done and I still don't get it. Yeah, stupid, silly old me.
