What now? Either it stops drifting or it drifts at a setted rate... both at the same time won't work, quite contradicting each other.
How about my ship does not drift/move at all once I disappeared from the server? It's really not nice to relog a character and to find it floating somewhere in the suns corana, or the sun, or a planet... or somewhere it definitly shouldn't be at all.
What's wrong with the way it was, where I relog where I logged out?

Re-read what you just quoted. He wants to stop a ship in space and find out why they drift so much. The 'expected rate' is just an estimation as to what is happening currently. I presume he means when he figures out how, he will try to set it so you do not drift. The way it has changed from not drifting to drifting without Cannon actually changing drift behaviour itself suggests something in his recent coding has, meaning it was a mistake, that he is going to find out where the mistake lies, and try to fix the bloody mistake.
