BHG / Core Split

I think part of the problem with the Core ID is the lack of canon roleplay - short of
a) kill Order or anyone who uses their toilet facilities
b) kill/capture nomies and make shoes from their skins
there is very little.

This, coupled with the BHG ID and the rules pertaining to bounty collection/forum claims etc. made for real confusion.

Splitting the ID's? Personally, I would have thought that the Core and whoever would be the genesis of a new house out in the edgeworlds (I'm talking in a matter of a hundred years or so).

But I don't write the mod.

At the moment, I'm trying to develop some sort of solid RP for the Core (as in the past, all we did was just shoot Order/Keepers/Corsairs for no real reason other than "Get Nomad tech"), which is one of the main reasons why I wanted the split. Because the Core has never had any real history, or reason to exist, and is always seen as just "Bounty Hunters in caps", which is extremely annoying, and the separation of the factions will hopefully allow for the evolution of the Core as an entity by forming a distinct division between the BHG and the Core, as right now, it's rather flat and boring.

And as Dusty said, the IDs are hopefully going to be much more distinct in .86, to highlight the differences between the Core (who are a military entity engaged in a war in the Omicrons) and the regular Guild (who are a vast collection of bounty hunters that spread across Sirius and kill people for money).

Also, Jinx, saying the Core's only purpose is to hunt Nomad tech is like saying the Nomads' only goal is to destroy humanity, or that the Zoners' only purpose is to be neutral and sit in remote places on their stations. Both of these examples are canon RP for the respective factions, but both factions do so much more, and are better for it. That's what I hope to happen with the Core, as yes our only purpose at the moment is to kill the Order and get Nomad tech, but I really hope to see the faction evolve beyond that, to become something far deeper and more interesting, as that's what Disco (and RP) is all about, really.


Edit: And a note with regards to the post above; The Core and the BHG are, and always will be, connected in RP. However, this does not mean that either side is subservient to the other. Right now, the best example of how I see the faction as a whole is that the Core and the BHG are two sides of a coin. We're both innately connected, but we have different goals and means to achieving those goals.
