It had taken a few days, but Sebastain had done it, with the help of some of the liner's engineering team, he had managed to cobble together the machine that would, with luck, create this new generation AI system. The device was large, almost the size of the room, with a large computer console and a chair with a scanner over it being the more notable features. Simulation results showed promise, and the device was now ready to be used.

"Thanks for the help boys, but I think I can handle things from here on. Tell Phillip that it's time we got Golem to it's final stages."
"At once, sir."

While he waited for Dr. Moore, Sebastian decided to check up on the testbed of the project. He reached for his communicator.

"This is Lt. Wolfe. What is the status of the Golem project?"
"Primary systems are installed, the AI datacore is installed and awaiting download. The ship's hull panelling is nearing completion. Estimate another 2 hours before completion."
"Excellent news."

As the communication line closed, Dr. Moore arrived.

"So, it's time is it?"
"Indeed, doctor. Man that console over there, while I get into position. I'll let you know when I'm ready."
"Roger"

Sebastian sat down onto the chair, with the doctor manning the console. The scanner slid downwards towards Sebastian's head, eventually coming to rest within an inch of it.

"The scanner is primed and ready. Last chance to back out, sir."
"I'm the one who spearheaded this research project, and I want to see it through to the end. Fire it up."
"Very well. Good luck sir."

The machine ban to emmit a low hum. The scanner began to vibrate slightly, and the various lights that Sebastian had installed as diagnostic tools to ensure that power was flowing as it should lit up as expected. The scanner produced a long red line that swooped down Sebastian's face, ending at the neck. It then rotated 90 degrees and went from his left ear across to the right. After repeating this a few times, the scanner withdrew back to where it had started from.

"Well, that went as expected"
"Indeed. Now we just have to wait for it to use the data to create an AI."
"Indeed. Then the hard part will be getting it to the Golem."
"Actually, that part's been bugging me for a while now."
"I already told you. Once the ship's done, I'll have them ship it to Java, where we can do a standard hard-line transfer to-"
"Not that bit. Do we really have to call the ship Golem?"
"No, that's just the codename for it. I already have a name in store for the ship."
"And what would that be?"
"Cyberstorm"
"Sounds intimidating"
"Precisely."
