Susan Rowlett in the Recruitment Office

Timothy Burrows entered in his office. He has just returned from a brief travel to Freeport 10. He was still feeling nervous after an Outcast raid in the convoy. He ordered the computer to give him some whiskey. He sat and whispered " I hope this one helps..." After some moments, someone was knocking his door. He unpleasantly returned to reality.

" Come in ! " Susan, gently opened the door and moved near Burrows.
" This must be the recruitment office, right? My name is Susan Rowlett, I am very pleased to meet you ! " Susan smiled and then shaked hands with Burrows.
" Oh, hello my dear, yes you are right, my name is Timothy Burrows please take a seat " Timothy was searching his papers while Susan thanked him and sat in one of the two chairs in front of his office.

" Do you want a drink, Miss Rowlett ? " Timothy asked while he was still searching for Susan's application.
" Erm.. I would like some coffee if you don't mind "
" Of course. Computer give some coffee to Miss Rowlett. Ah there it is ! " Timothy just pulled Susan's application from a pile full of files and papers.
" Thank you Mr.Burrows "
" Call me Timothy, Miss Rowlett. So... I have received and read some information about you and what we are going to do here is to ask you some questions based on the information I have" Timothy was feeling much better with the whiskey in his veins. " It seems I am much better now" he thought.
" Of course, Timothy" Susan nodded while she started feeling a little nervous. Timothy Burrows uploaded Susan's application in the computer and was skimming it with a profound interest.

[color=#FFFFFF]Susan Rowlett was born at November 787 A.S. in Planet Leeds. She was raised up by a lower middle class family. She entered school at 792 A.S. and finished with good grades the Royal High School at 807 A.S. Even though her family pushed her to become a diplomat for the Kingdom, she also wanted that, so she attended some classes, while she started working for a small shipping company named 'The Attic'. There, she worked in the Public Relations, which helped her in her classes as well. By the time when her classes were about to end, Bretonia was in the verge of war with Kusari and therefore there was a lot of insecurity within the working classes. That affected Susan too and made her cancel her plans and continue working in the small company. By that time she got a promotion and that probably was also an important factor for her decision.

Attic's offices were in Planet Leeds and she rarely left the planet. In one occasion, she travelled to Stokes Station for a meeting with BMM representatives and there she met Ian Adkins, a Bretonian Armed Forces Sergeant. After some months of dating they were married at 814 A.S. Some months later Susan gave birth to their daughter, Emily. At 815 A.S. because of the increased attacks in Bretonian Convoys by Kusarians and Corsairs, all the employees of her company were trained for space combat. Ian helped Susan to learn ground combat too. Eventually, many of her collegues in the Public Relations were transferred in the security department, but Susan remained in her position. At 816 A.S. she gave birth to James.

When Susan found some spare time, she used to travel and meet her husband in the front lines. Of course, the same thing was done by many other wifes, so Bretonia Armed Forces had hired some special passenger transports. At 817 A.S. in Tau-31 near Planet Harris, one of these convoys was attacked by Outcasts. Ian was one of the escorts of the convoy, while Susan was in one of the transports. Susan saw Ian bravely fighting the Outcasts but his wing was outnumbered so in the end he was killed. Afterwards, the Outcasts forced the convoy to move to Cali Base. There, Susan and the rest of the people in the transports were waiting in small cells for 2 days before a Slaver Liner pick them up and move them to Planet Malta. Fortunately, in Tau-37, the Liner was attacked by Bounty Hunters; The Liner was in fire and there was a lot of confusion. Susan managed to release herself and move to a lower deck, where some smaller crafts were located. Using the techniques Ian learned her and probably her vengeance, she killed the nearby guard and used one of the ships in order to escape. Here is what camera has taken within the ship.

One month later, she was safe again in Planet Leeds. She was very depressed about her loss and her experience of being hostage haunted her many nights. She was actively demanding by the government to investigate the incident, along with some other families. Bretonia at that moment has lost the control of North Leeds. The government and the armed forces were desperately searching for new allies in order to boost their defences. Since Outcasts were an enemy of Kusari, they wanted to develop a secret relationship with them, so according to the official statement this attack never happened and Ian Adkins died 4 months earlier. Of course, Susan couldn't accept that, so she received several anonymous messages which threatened for her life and for Emily's and James' too. Because of these messages, Susan probably decided to leave with her kids. She applies for IMG probably because:

• Liberty is not safe either for a pernament stay
  
• IMG is independent and accepts all sorts of people
  
• Take revenge for the death of her husband, however this is mostly a guess

" Very interesting..." Even though most people had their own story, he found Susan's uniquely impressive. Susan was looking at him with curiosity and a little stress.
" Miss Rowlett you were born at 787 A.S. in Planet Leeds. Is that correct ? "
" Yes it is "
" And since.. a month ago you were working for 'The Attic' . Your position was good, your salary was good. What made you quit ? "
" Naval Forces have reached Stokes Mr.Burrows. They are conducting operations right outside of my planet. For the sake of my kids, I couldn't continue working there..."
" True. I arguably understand that. How old are your kids Miss Rowlett ? " He asked even though he knew the answer
" Emily is 3 and James is almost 2 "
" ... and if you are accepted in the IMG, your kids will be with you, I presume, right ? " He tried to focus in the kids and intentionally avoid talking about their father.
" Yes, that's true " Susan, drank some of the coffee looking at the room
" What can you offer to us Miss Rowlett ? " Timothy was looking straigh at Susan's eyes.
" Well " She took a deep breath " I have finished some courses in order to become a diplomat, as you already know I am working for 9 years in Attic's public relations and I have also been trained for ground and space combat " Burrows was satisfied by the accurate information he was given.
" Quite a rich record for a 30 year old woman. I am sure you could have found much better and more well-paid missions across Sirius. Why you apply for IMG ? "
" I don't like what big corporations do to their employees. Also, I want to be far from wars " Susan hardly believed of what she said. Timothy Burrows also knew the real reason and he smiled for a moment.
" Miss Rowlett, you are accepted to Independent Miners Guild. You will be assigned in the defence of Java Station in Tau-23 System" He stood up
" Thank you very much Mr.Burrows" She stood up as well and shaked hands with Timothy.
" A convoy is leaving soon for Java, if you hurry you won't miss it "
" Alright, thank you again Mr.Burrows, I hope we meet again ! "


Timothy was watching Susan while she was exiting his office. "She experienced such a tragedy... I hope Java will give her what she is looking for" he thought and served another whiskey to himself.
