Things are just beginning to come naturally. I've had academic aptitude, but I've always feared when it came to more pragmatic events that I may not cut the mustard. Gallia is proving to be a forgiving battleground and now more than ever do I see the excellence of our training. Today I was dispatched with a wing of fighters to track down a hostile group detected not too far from the Beuvray. Truly the tenacity of our foes grows with each passing down. A cornered beast has no choice but to fight, so my thinking is that desperation drives them now.
Suffice it to say, the mission went as smoothly as we could hope for. All hostile pods were taken aboard the squad leader's ship, save for one. A single Maquis scum was given to me for processing. I dropped the pod off at Dijon Police HQ and spotted Stellar Meffre on her wait out as well. We stopped to exchange formalities for a moment and I said goodbye.
As I began firing up my cruise engines, she suggested we conduct a private training session. I was apprehensive at first, but what wrong could come of training? We pulled out into a distant star field, making sure no hostiles were skulking or waiting to pounce and began our benign combat. She performed excellently and put up quite the fight, but ultimately I was able to produce the non-lethal finishing shot which stunned her system, ending the exercise.
Today has proven to be a day of excellence, but all things have their counter. Hopefully the opposite of these auspicious events is not for some time to come. I have taken the liberty of including a few holoscans of today's events for my own records.
