The arrow formation kept moving forward. The bodyguards were obviously growing impatient with the rate that Kombuchinus moved. His walking stick - a section of a thin trunk which he had cut down to the right length - was being brought to bear with every two steps, helping to keep him upright. The sunlight was already burning the back of his neck through his hair, and he began to sweat through the leather clothing he wore, the colour of which matched his hair shade.

The formation finally reached the party of three that had patiently waited, perhaps not daring to meet them halfway for fear of offending Kombuchinus. But in reality he wouldn't have minded at all. He knew that some could grow very impatient with his mobility problems.

'Primusian Senator Kombuchinus of Senoua.' It was customary amongst Primusians to, when meeting others for the first time, begin with a formal announcement of their title and name. He completed this with a slight bowing of the head. He thought for a second, before also extending his wizened right hand for a handshake with the first figure, a gesture he had studied up on during the trip. He wanted to make the right first impression with the Virulians.
