Part one: The beginning of the end

Ari Weir tossed on the bed. He had a fever and his whole body seemed to be like on a fire. Sometimes groaned and whispered something.
"He is resisting it." said one voice
"He can't resist it, that's not possible!" said other
"It looks like a natural reaction of the body, we can not do anything about it." said the first voice
"We are losing him sir! Cardiac arrest!" said the third voice
"Defibrillator! Bring here defibrillator!" said the first voice

"He will live but this was '¦ this was close'¦"
"Never seen this reaction before"
"We will see doctor, we will see"

Part two: Awakening

Ari slowly opened his eyes. He was hallucinating. He fell asleep again a couple of times. What happened? Where I am?

***Resistance~(pointless/unnecessary)..***

What was that? *It* was in his mind, in his body, *It* was '¦ his own being.

He was closing his eyes again

He must remember. He must! He fell asleep again. Memories '¦ home '¦

Small 5 years child was playing on the grass infront of the large house. After a while came a tall man about forty.

'Stand up son. Mum has a lunch for us.' said that big person over me
'But I must crush this bad Hessian soldiers!' said that child and pointed at a plastic Red Hessian and Rheinland fighters.
'You can finish it later after lunch.' said big man
'But father I need to crush them!'
'Ari!' said father
'Yes father' said child sadly and stood up

Father was sitting before television. Something wasn't alright. First I did not know what. Then I heard from television.

NEW BERLIN NEWS
Bomb attack in the center of New Berlin! Two hundred people were killed by Unioners!

I found out what was wrong. Father was crying '¦

'What happened, father?'
'Ari '¦ your mum '¦ she is in heaven now.'

I was just standing there and crying.

7 years later

Part four: Gottkanzler

I was standing there in a crowd. In the New Berlin City waiting for the words of one person. Person with enormous charisma and even more power. Person whose will was the law. Leader of the Rheinland republic, Nikolaus Reinhardt, The Gottkanzler.

'People of Rheinland, we are in a hard times. We are in the war with the Corsair empire. Our mothers are loosing their sons in fight with these barbarians every day! They want our land, our planets, our resources, our children! They want more and more! They have never enough. They are killing civilians, old people, young kids or they make slaves from our people to serve them! They are paying Unioners and another traitors of this kind to fight with us!'

Chancellor stopped his speech for few seconds but then he shouted:

'But we will never surrender! We will stop them! Not even stop them, we will show them that we don't want Corsair cannibals in our country once for all! We will show them power of theRheinland!

Me and a whole crowd was cheering and chanting name: Gottkanzler! Gottkanzler!

When crowd stopped chanting, Chancellor continued

'Yes, we will defeat them. Sons of Rheinland hear me! Rheinland needs you! Join Rheinwehr and defend your homeland! For the glory of Rheinland!

The Chancellor left his place and Rheinwehr recruiters stood on the stage.

'You heard our Chancellor! Defend your homeland!'

I was like in a trance. I stood in queue in front of recruiter's table and later that evening I joined to Rheinland Military with many other young people. Drinking came after.
Next morning I woke up with a terrible hangover when someone pounded on the door.

'Rheinland Federal Police! Open the doors!'

I went to the doors and opened it.

'Herr Weir?' asked me policeman in green uniform

'Yeah, that is me. How can I help you?'

'You joined Rheinwehr yesterday, take only personal items. You will get everything necessary on place.' told me officer

'Place?'

'Naval Acedemy MÃ¼rwik, Planet Nuremberg, we are waiting you in front of doors in 15 minutes.' told me officer

'Ah '¦ Alright.' told him and closed the doors. I was in panic I remember almost nothing from yesterday. That was the beginning of my service.

[color=#FF6600]Part five: MÃ¼rwik[color=#FF6600]

'Wake up you *******!' yelled at me Senior Sergeant
'Yes sir!' yelled I and jumped from bed
'So you think that practice week is something under your level?'
'Sir, no sir!'
'So move your ass and get to the engine room.' yelled he

After three hours of lecture on engines of Wraith, we had to clean up the hangar.

That was half a year after my arrival to Nuremberg. Half a year of cleaning floors, military drill, sprints, being woke up by Senior Sergeant and lectures. When we had a lucky day we were on simulators. However, that day we had first chance get into Wraith. We were all nervous.

'Group Delta get into hangar, repeat Group Delta get into hangar!'

We ran into the hangar and we saw them. Wings of the Rheinland. Wings of the Chancellors will.

These ones were old models removed from service but we didn't care.

I took that which they showed me and sat in a cockpit

'Greetings young pilot, you may call me Felix. I'm your Flight Controller, I'm sure you are dying to fly with it but be careful. You are supposed to repeat after me. Good luck.'

Oh no '¦ Not another simulator instructor. But I knew these flights are recorded so I just said:

'Roger Felix, I hear you good and clear. We can start. Starting engines!'

'Operation denied. Warning placed. Opening book of flight techniques. Chapter 1, Paragraph 34. 'Before starting engines every pilot is supposed to do ship check-up. Avoiding this can lead to catastrophic ship disfunction.' said my robotic friend

Now that was a very stupid mistake.

'Initializing ship control. Green!'

Only silence. Seems like Felix is speaking only when encountering some mistake.

'Starting fuel control. Green!'

'Starting system control. Green!'

'Starting engines. Started!.'

'Permission to take off was granted. You are supposed to do small flight round now.'

They really should show these bots what does it mean being half a year on MÃ¼rwik. Ship lifted off the ground.

'Yes sir!' I said

I will never forget that feeling. It was amazing. Leaving the planet through docking ring and discovering space. It is like a drug. You can stop flying but the rest of your life you remember what it was. Space is the opportunity but not home. You are fighting for a land not for space, but space gives you opportunity to find that land. Frankly only humanity does. We never saw further than our own nose was. We focus only on us. We came, we plundered and we did not care about the results of our doings. We are thieves in someone else's paradise. Children playing in the castle made of glass. We woke up our own nightmare. We made our own nightmare. It was only matter of time until we faced something we could hardly understand.
