indies are the driving force for creative and innovative RP. - much more than factions who become set in their ways - and henceforth... stagnate.
factions with rigid structures are not flexible enough ... and members ( can ) become bored much easier than independents. - the outcome of such boredom breaks through as mindless and usually unilateral pvp actions.
an indie whos roleplay ideas run out .... "dies" ... a factions whos roleplay ideas run out tends to stick around long after the date of expiry.
that is why indies are important.
explanation:
an indie with a nice idea simply goes forth and does it. - a factionmember has to mind too many aspects to be impulsive. - after all... an indie that messes up ruins his own reputation ( or rather the reputation of his char [ if the community did not metagame ] ) - a factionmember who messes up risks his faction to be flagged "bad" [ again - only in case the community does not metagame ]
responsibility can be harmful for beneficial and spontanous behaviour. - indies ( can ) represent the best of RP - but also the worst... factions usually represent the average... they often start quite innovative... but after around a few months - they become mediocre in terms of creativity.
