SUBJECT: Interested Party Seeking Approval

Greetings,

As the header suggests, my name is Fletch. I don't know much about my past, which leaves me free to focus on my future. As to my biography, I will post an excerpt from my ship's logs of my recently departed Bactrian.

I can't remember who I am, much further than I woke up on the Barrier Gate Station in Coronado. The only semblance of my past was the word Fletch printed on my flight suit. It's the name I've taken now, assuming it was my name before.

The people who brought me here were just a couple of freelancers. They didn't know much other than they found my pod badly damaged floating in space. They say I was in the midst of the wreckage of several ships. Through further questioning, it's safe to assume my last flight was a huge run in with the Liberty Navy, and I took down several with me. I don't know what happened before, but I know at least they aren't on my side.

I've managed to end up with a Bactrian after a lucky run-in with a drunk pilot. I'll be taking it out to a station I heard rumors of, Alkatraz. It's supposed to be a safe haven for a guy like me, with nearby potential for... profit. Maybe I can pick off a few unlucky traders, and make a new future to replace my past lost.

I say recently departed because it met an unfortunate end in a 'trade' deal in the California system. This unfortunate circumstance left me in an Alcatraz med bay for a week (Explaining the abrupt end in Ships Logs from said Bactrian).

As with all things, if you don't die, you only become stronger. While in the Med Bay I had plenty of time to talk to another 'merchant' from your region. We talked of my ambitions, and I had to admit that I hadn't thought much of where I was headed, other than seeking revenge on any Liberty Navy dog I could catch alone in the open. He spoke very highly of the Outcasts and encouraged me to look into them. I probably wouldn't have given it much thought, but fate had other ideas.

My sources came back with info on who had betrayed me in the deal that nearly cost me my life. It was Corsairs, and someone high up in their faction, as well. I don't have a name yet, but I hope to find it one day. When I got the news, my new friend's eyes seemed to sparkle, as he informed me of a sure way to find and eliminate the man seeking my head, while at the same time not forsaking the ties to the Rogues who had supported me as I started anew; the way he had been suggesting all along. With newfound interest, I began to seek with earnest all of the information he had on joining the Outcasts.

In the end, he told me if I wanted to really draw the blood of the Corsairs, and perhaps one day be in a position to find this mystery man, the 101st was the place to go. I want to make the Corsairs weep for the days before they decided one lone pirate needed to die. If you will have me, I want to start a life among your ranks and one day grow to be the bane of every Corsair ever born. Please allow me to accept your guidance to my hatred and desire for vengeance.

1) Why the 101st Outcast Guard?

I wanted an active group that would still allow me to keep my ties to the rogues, following my RP character's hatred of LN. I also wanted to be able to engage in larger capital warfare type battles, something I didn't see able to happen with a Rogue Capital that seemed limited in every aspect of use. I talked in depth with the help channel on Skype, and they suggested I look into Unioners and Outcasts. In the end, Outcasts has much more potential for upward growth and a full range of combat including battleships. After deciding on Outcasts, I began asking specifically where to look, and I was pointed in the direction of the 101st.


2) What are two things that you enjoy doing in real-life besides playing freelancer?

Besides Freelancer, I enjoy working on the development of a video game that has been the ambition of mine for several years. I also enjoy reading, and learning anything and everything. Mostly I find myself attracted to history because of the limitless potential for speculation. I think that is what drew me to this Freelancer server, in the first place.


3) What would the last sentence of your autobiography be?

"In the end, you just have to keep going."


4) If you could be a fictional character (from a film, book, comic, etc...), who would it be, and why?

Call me crazy, but I wouldn't mind being Rico from Starship Troopers. Something about that movie has always drawn me back. I know the graphics are pretty silly, with the clay gore, but the actual plot and the raw realism of combat really bring it out for me. Rico, himself, develops into a true Soldier, and I don't think that is a position I would ever regret finding myself in. There's truly something I admire about it, but perhaps it's just me being a guy.
