look likes im going to have to learn how to use 3ds as this is what i have found
Inventor parts can be exported (besides the native .IPT format) to BMP, IGES (.igs), SAT, STEP (.stp), STL, XGL or ZGL formats, or to the Streamline .PTP format. Since R9, also 3D DWF is supported. Since R11 you can work with JT file format. With the Translator module for version 2008 you can save X_T and X_B files.
Inventor assemblies can be exported (besides the native .IAM format) to BMP, IGES, SAT, STEP, XGL or ZGL formats, or to the Streamline .AMP format. Since R9, also 3D DWF is supported. Since R11 you can work with JT file format.

Inventor drawings can be exported (besides the native .IDW format) to DWG or DXF formats, or to the Streamline .DWP format (and presentations to the .PNP format). Also the DWF publishing format is supported.

Using add-on applications you can additionally write Inventor data to the .IDF or VRML (.WRL - see "VRML Translator" by CAD Studio) formats, or to .JPG (jpeg) or .PDF.
