I've spontaneously had the idea of a small crab like vessel. Is that already too much animal-like or was the comment about that just to state that it should be a smaller, not-so-much-grey design?

No, that comment was just the image i got when imagining a mafic-like design with the bretonian texture scheme

So long as the ship looks bretonian and makes practical sense it will likely have a go. I'd recommended starting with submitting the bare-model here to see if we like the general design.

A crab-like vessel might make sense for the Dacite, but in any case nothing says the mafic cant look that way either.
