But hey, if this is the case, I'm going to start writing up an alien species that inhabit gas planets. The planets are there, so why not?

Because there isn't any established sentient gas alien role-play. There are already the Primusians in the game, but nobody's bothered to do anything else with them. If it was an empty habitable planet I wouldn't have called it up, but the aliens are there and nobody is doing anything with them.

Primus is already incorporated into the Discovery Universe. Into the Freelancer Universe. I'm not trying to tack something onto the side because I can. I'm doing it because it's a part of the Discovery Universe that is there but isn't being used, and every part should be used.
