Marcus Ward has been working for The Order since the age of sixteen, where he would eavesdrop on the conversations of various pilots (mostly Bounty Hunters) and pass any relevant details to Graham Palmer, one of our operatives who has permenant residence on the station. Thanks to the information provided by Marcus over the years, many pilots have been saved as well as several vital supply shipments. Marcus was recruited into the Order at the age of eighteen, when he expressed his desire to join The Order to Agent Palmer.
As Marcus has no previous combat experience, in space or on the ground, there weren't that many options for him. Because of his previous assistance to The Order in the role of gathering intelligence, Agent Palmer contacted Major Finn (commanding officer of The Order Intelligence Wing). Major Finn already knew of Marcus and had no problem with Marcus being a covert operative, seeing as he had being doing the job for two years. Marcus was put through Covert Operative training which covered Intelligence gathering, Surveillance, Advanced flying, Basic space combat, basic small arms use and advanced hand to hand combat.
Many covert operatives struggle with the loneliness and independance, as they are constantly changing identities they cannot have friends and they have little to no contact with The Order, they pass information to and receive tasks from various contacts throughout Sirius. Marcus had no such problems.
Unfortunately, the LSF may now recognise Marcus as an Order operative. One of our agents on Atka research station has disappeared, we have not been able to find out where he is but we have intercepted transmissions which name several names and false identities used by the various covert operatives active in Liberty. It is safe to assume that our agent has been captured and information has been extracted that places several operatives in danger.
3rd Recon Squadron successfully pulled the compromised operatives out of Liberty and they are now on Toledo being briefed on their options. While the normal course of action is for them to become analysts at their parent unit, Marcus has requested a transfer to the secondary fleet.
Seeing as we have no shortage of Intelligence analysts, I do not think there is a problem in Marcus trying his hand at flying. We could always use more pilots and according to his training reports, he has shown a decent level of leadership and the ability to remain calm in almost any situation. Provided he is as competent pilot as he was a covert operative, I could very well see Marcus eventually becoming the CO of a ship.
