Message to: The Brotherhood, the rest of the Corsairs
Comm ID: Pedro Maniaco
My dearest brothers!
If you are reading this message it means I am dead now and this is the last time you hear from me.
The rest of you are still retreating from Sigma 13, but something tells me my end is coming soon and I decided to compose this message. I may have been taking our loss in Rheinland personally but that's simply the way I am. Time is flying and a few moments ago scouts confirmed that a large Rheinland fleet is following us.
First of all, I'd like to suggest two new Elders. Including me, the Brotherhood will probably soon loose another Elder, the eldest one, Brother Alexander. He has been keeping it secret but his lung cancer has developed greatly and although our doctors at Crete are doing their best they are loosing him. He's confined to bed all the time.
The first one is an amazing pilot, most skilled one among us, and a great friend of mine. Blood of an ancient corsair family is flowing his veins and I am sure that every each one of us could entrust his life in his hands any time. He's known as Skyelius.
And the second one I didn't have the chance to get to know closer but I always admired his pure corsair nature and we both agreed on the Nomad issue, which concerned usage of Nomad weaponry on our ships. His name is Juan Lucendez.
I know I can't force you all to obey my decision but please at least consider these two candidates I am suggesting. That is, if they both agree with their nomination. Please support them if you can.
Now the Nomad issue. We already spoke about this among the Elders and we agreed that the threat of Nomad infestation is to high to ignore. We lost a lot of great pilots recently and therefore we can't risk loosing more. I wanted to launch this earlier but I would like all members of the Brotherhood to get rid of any nomad weaponry and equipment they are currently using, including nomad guns and nomad thrusters. We have tested some nomad-less weapon loadouts and believe me, we can live without them.
And now I have to face the most burning issue, which is the SCRA. I was the one who granted Ares the honorary status of the Elder and the "Defender of Crete" medal. I have known him since I was a young boy and we were always close to each other. Our common raids in Bretonia were known among most of the elder corsairs. When he left us and joined the Coalition Army it was a terrible stroke. I couldn't understand why and our paths went in separate directions. I haven't heard of him for a long time and time healed a lot of old wounds.
But then, after several years, I met him in the bar on Crete again. He was representing the Coalition and according to the 'Arms Deal' they helped us defend Crete against enemies in exchange for allowing them to use our weaponry. But ever since they came the problems started. Some of our younger pilots, as well as other corsair factions didn't approve our close relations to Coalition pilots, aligned to terrorists Xenos, and from time to time arguable skirmishes came.
I first ignored them, trying to belittle the problems and I tried to explain both sides to cease their fire. But then we lost our friends, the Omega Pirate Guild, for which I always blamed their leader, Gentle. Now I wouldn't be so sure that it was only his fault. Then it continued with LDDLG. SCRA pilots, after being shot at, destroyed several their ships at Crete's orbit and for the first time, I realized there was a civil war threat among us. I was able to only sent a message to their leader because I was too occupied in our Rheinland Base of Operations.
I am reviewing it now and I must admit I was blind, maybe because I was too focused on my primary goal, the Rheinland Invasion, and SCRA fitted very well in those plans. I was always blaming the rest of Corsairs for the tensions but now I am sure that the SCRA are pushing a wedge between us. Whether it's intentional or not I don't know. But I hope, there is still a peaceful way out of this.
So if you have read this message until now, I beg you, don't let the unity of our nation fall apart. No matter what we do, how we do and where we do it, the Corsairs should always be on the first place. My friend Ares will probably never forgive me if he receives a copy of this message, but I am sorry, this is simply what I feel now. If he had not beem away so long, he would probably understand me better.
Please take care of my daughter Teresa. I didn't suggest her as a next Elder, because no matter how great she is, she's not ready yet.
