Crown and Coin

Well, not much else to do while I wait...besides, now I have something to celebrate! Having not run into anyone he knew last time around, he didn't really expect much more this time. Especially when he saw the dust on the tables...

"Been a mite slow lately, bartender?"

He nodded.

Martin took a seat at the bar, a grin spreading across his face. "Right...I just got promoted, so drinks are on me for any BAF personnel that do come in here today. A shot of your best, please." The bartender offered a word of congratulations, and got started mixing up a drink.

While he waited, the new Lieutenant looked around at the names and pictures on the wall, as he often did when he visited the bar. Heh, who knows...maybe someday, my name & picture will be on that wall. And to think, just a year ago I thought my military career was finished! Smiling broadly, he took the drink the bartender offered; but he didn't drink it right away. Instead, he stared off into space, swirling his glass gently.
