Biography:

A turncoat and former agent of the Direction d'Operations Speciales, Lelouch has been at the top of the wanted lists of the Gallic Crown for over two years. A known ringleader of the Maquis and suspect of over five hundred bombings to date, it truly is a surprise that this man isn't dead yet.

An aspirant at a young age, Lelouch was drafted into the DOS early on his military career. A mastermind of espionage and sabotage, the newly-dubbed agent Harlequin made his debut during the infiltration and sabotage of a Redemption class battleship. Cornered and pursued by Royalist forces, the Redemption known as Victoire violently erupted as its core reactors melted down. Believed to be a scuttling action, a search for survivors was conducted immediately to confirm suspicions. The only living survivor of the ship was the DOS agent drifting in an escape pod.

Lelouch's thirst for the destruction of enemy ships and property became so extreme and ambitious that it came upon the DOS command staff that one of their top agents was succumbing to insanity. Normally exhibiting a calm and sociopathic attitude towards his missions, it was believed that the mental trauma of terminating people in the thousands at a time had become to grate on Harlequin's psyche. Behind closed doors, it was decided that the man should be "retired" after completing his final mission.

Lelouch never returned from that mission. It was assumed that he had died until reports of increased and more precise Maquis terrorist actions turned a lot of heads. It wasn't but three months later that agent Harlequin had been found: Walking away from the scene of an exploding troop transport that had grounded for maintenance.

One can not really say how Lelouch had found his way into the Maquis. It is assumed that he was captured. Some say that he turned himself in and offered to assist. The fact of the matter is that he simply disappeared. Faded away and joined the Maquis under nothing but a whim. Hiding his true identity, rising in the ranks of the Maquis became easy. It was just a matter of strategic planning and impressive display.

The death of the Maquis command structure, a topic of much trouble and paranoia, marked his true ascension. In the confusion and finger-pointing amongst the Maquisards, it was only one person who decided it would be on his shoulders that the Maquis would travel forward. Suffice to say, no one objected.
