So, basically, you do have a problem with NPC piracy.
Also, I was cargo pirating with loads of interaction in Galileo, thanks to tons of traders that go trough Galileo and Kepler to Kusari, or from Kusari. Hell, Pumpernickel going there shooting them is interaction. Without cargo piracy there he would have no pirates to shoot for his bounty board.
What you are trying to do is make NPC piracy so lousy that it will become a dead system.
And all I'm asking is why so much fuzz about another way to earn money, which is still considerably lousier then trading or smuggling?
And btw, it actually promotes freighter usage, for low rank players.
No one is asking for it to be less profitable. We are asking that a risk be involved with it. Again, if you read any of the posts you'd understand that. I pirate NPCs on one of my characters, claiming I have a problem with it is an ignorant assumption.
The issue isn't cargo piracy. Its the fact that this particular spot to NPC farm has no risk involved and due to its location and the location of the Cassini jump hole doesn't foster good player to player interactions. IE. The farmers either don't interact with anyone or run to Cassini and log their Spyglass to kill their aggressor.
There is a fuss because the lack of risk and lack of good player to player interaction leads to the fabled LoLwuts. It leads to players who don't know the rules, don't understand role play, and end up getting sanctioned because of it.
But, hey, you read the thread so you should already know that; because its been said already.
