Standardize Weaponry

Alright, I know this has been suggested before, but with the recent discussions over white cells and special role play requests I've been thinking. Why not make every gun have identical stats and also give everyone different versions of their weaponry (different re-fire rates). What are the pros and cons to this? I'm sure I can't think of them all so do post your input please!

Pros:

-Everyone's guns are equal which means less requests simply to acquire a superior PvP set up.
-Would end instances where a player or group is using a ship and weapon combination that the developers didn't balance said ship and weapons for, thus gaining an over powered set up.


Cons:

-Likely every single ship would need to be re-balanced to adjust for the weaponry re-balance.
-Removes the need for code name weaponry, thus killing the role play of weapon dealers.
-Could kill the role play between factions and individuals in an effort to get weaponry.
