Beacuse the alternative is shutting down all the plants in Kusari that previously made exports for Liberty and putting all of those people out of a job.
That's a lot of people.
A lot.

Ah, so we should do it because it is more profitable for us to provide the means to kill our own people.
Again mind you, there are only 3 items being embargoed. I know people like to think that all trade has stopped between Kusari and Liberty, but it has not.
' Wrote:Isn't this a stupid thing for Kusari to do?
Now they can't trade with Bretonnia because of the war, they can't trade with Liberty because of the embargo, Rheinland barely has anything but heavy metal to trade, they've got pirates up the wazoo and Gallia is waving its massive navy at them in a threathening manner.
Yes, Liberty's arms deal with Bretonnia would've made them mad, but it seems like it was only a very minor deal and losing 2/3ds of your international trading partners can wreak havoc on any nation's economy, which Kusari really doesn't need when it's at war.
Simple economics, yo! Learn it!
No, contrary to real life Liberty has not claimed all fuel deposits with wars against terrorism and dictatorship. As such Liberty is the one who's pretty much in a mess here being cut off from fuel supplies as well as all engine components. That surely is what one should do while being at war...
Also, Gallia is not waving their massive navy at our doorstep. We are still playing 4.85 where we have so far only heard about gallia based on reports/rumours by the council.
As for Bretonia getting fuel: I so far assumed that Liberty took the position of a reseller so they had to buy it for horrendous prices. Might fill the Bretonian treasury though if they now can sell overprized fuel to Liberty after buying it for less-overpriced prices from Rheinland.

' Wrote:The problem is, Kusari sends shipbuilding parts and fuel to Liberty, Liberty takes those parts and fuel and builds ships and guns, they then take these guns and ships and give them to Bretonia who uses them to fight Kusari.
Why on earth would Kusari keep sending those parts to Liberty to be used to kill Kusari pilots?
Do I need to point out that many weapons systems in use around the world are British built? Those in Libya, for example.
During the second world war, many older Japanese ships were laid and built in the UK. Only the newer ones were constructed domestically. Many ships were also captured Chinese or Russian vessels. America didn't declare war on the UK because of this.
My point? Kusari would keep sending those parts to Liberty to be used to kill Kusari pilots due to quite simple economics.
Believe me, I wanted Liberty to solve its fuel problems the 'normal' way, but in the end, who cares? The situation isn't realistic anyway, Kusari would've collapsed long ago, exacerbated by the fact that they've now done something extremely silly to the GMG. But they haven't collapsed. So you've seen Liberty pull quite an odd card out of it's deck and simply use an excuse to ignore the situation all together. I can't speak for them, but it looks like they don't want to deal with this ridiculous situation anymore.
Zelot, there's a large difference between making less profit and shutting down entire sectors of your economy.
One leads to angry stockholders.
The other leads to full-scale riots.

Right, and as Mcneo clearly points out, Liberty has no interest in stopping the embargo. All this that the Kusari did to the GMG? The GMG claimed a Kusari planet and then started shooting down ships that went to it.
Yes, Connor, The UK sold weapons systems all over. But do you really think the United States would be alright with them selling them to Libya at the moment? These arent old ships that the Bretonians had from before, this is Liberty actively supplying Bretonia during the conflict, in essence taking a side in the war. But you know that Connor. You know that this isnt about old system but instead about active support. So, how come the UK isnt selling Libya those weapon systems now?
So yes, I stand by the move, and it seems the Kusari leadership stands by the move, so honestly, the rest of you can go to hell.
Be nice if people tried to deal with things in rp instead of all this whining oorp.
Oh yea, IC tried to deal with it in rp. They got a proper response from Kusari and ignored by Liberty, but right, I forgot, Kusari is the one being unreasonable.
Go complain to someone else about it, maybe Liberty.
Alright dear, continue to justify the nigh unjustifiable economics of your decision to alienate your fuel producer, a critical foreign investment opportunity and fight a bitter, bloody war of attrition with another house.
If the UK were to sell arms to Libya, do you -really- think the US would <strike>declare war</strike> (whoops) embargo the UK?
Furthermore, I think we're all aware of the black market.
Both these factors you've ignored in order to justify a ridiculous move that not even the strongest manufacturing-based economy could weather whilst under the strain of bitter war.
Before telling people to roleplay things out, why don't you look around and see if the roleplay you've created is plausible enough for others to want to participate? Looks to me like it caused a whole lot of stuff that someone else thought "It's all bollocks, really. Lets go and solve our problem forever."

That about sums it up.
Overall - if Liberty doesnt have the balls to stand up to Kusari - they deserve everything they get!
Liberty can afford to go take its toys elsewhere and not engage in RP with Kusari - they enjoy a high level of activity by default.
