Of all the factions iv'e been in, Black Sails is the one most subjected to OORP hate, reengagement, F1 outta piracy, lolwut sized ganks and foul alliances....

I was always thinking about the corsair's community (the majority of indies and sails) as funy guys who want to have fun by using their ID RP powers aka: piracy, killing, insulting in RP and anything you may affiliate to pirates. But during many encounters against these people you cant miss the element of OORP hatred their throw on you (wont give examples cuz they are many). The worst thing is that you pretend to be something else but hey...open you eyes and see why so many people dislike you...you already mentioned half of the reasons Pyrsin.

Yesterday you proved to the whole community the low level of ground where you stand. Nevertheless the bretonian players that got the sanction regrouped, mounted their equipment and via RP returned home without to lose anything. We have managed to turn this sanction in to one fantastic RP for 2 hours and half thanks to people that decided NOT to use hatred and put understanding in first place....Order| and 141|.

Kudos again for those people that still RP>OORP. Thank you for the fun order community. *bows*

I digress, as at least 2 examples pop into my head that were justifed exactly on that issue in the last decade;)

But, as we are doing sci-fi politics here, it's more about those lines:

- Will Rheinland believe the Brets a massive fleet just came by random chance and just in time and were accepted into the battle rosters, even following the Bretonians commands?
- Will Rheinland dare to act upon Bretonia(Which is in a similarly miserable state)?
- Will Bretonia push Rheinland away into the arms of Gallia by helping the Hessians too openly and seal its fate?

I mean...it's not the Hessian RP that bears the most trouble, you guys should crave for being legitimized by each and every non-Rheinland power group sou you will be actually listened to if you ever reach your goals(and not just been seen upon as some wierd highwaymen). But it is somewhat dangerous for everyone you try to curry favour with- and in this case it's all about Bretonia.

Concerning that sanction- i think everyone even the involvees had to giggle a bit at that. It's elegant and as messy as that base shooting at the same time. Fun ends though when the folks returning to their native space get shot down, that's not fair play:(

It was a messy situation. I do not agree with the Hessians barging into Cambrige. But they did.
people went 'wtf' at thatbut someone invited them in (one of the) the groups. It was a giant cluster**** and oversight was soon lost.

Now a lot of people got nailed owing to, what seems to be, a revenge sanction report. And they got nailed for an 'alliance'. Which is kinda funny because this situation has arised more often with other factions in simmulair circumstances and yet no one was sanctioned. (Core + Order vs giant nomad fleet anyone? RM + Wilde vs Hessians? etd)

my 2 cents: overreaction on the admin's part. A simple 'guys, don't do this, its frowned upon' warning would have sufficed.

That being said: shooting down an undocking Sair from the base before he can do a thing is way uncool.

Do remember that player stations do not give the short invulnerability when you undock and when you have a great deal of battleships pounding the hell out of it there isn't much chance for survival. I'd like to say I saw Vito undock but in all honesty he didn't even show up on the target list before he was killed, it didn't even register to the battlegroup until the message appeared.
I honestly can't see a way of it being avoided, it was not intentional he was simply caught in the line of fire.

The sad part is the loss of respect for the Corsairs and the admin team caused by this sanction. I've been asking myself if I really want to play with people who would sink this low just to get revenge and how can I rely on a team that allows it?
Fine sanction us for violation of ID, or more laughably "being in group" but make the punishment fit the crime, a simple warning would of done the trick but no we're sent across the galaxy and made into a shooting gallery for no other reason than spite. That is my friend is uncool.

After some light reading here, I'm on the fence about the entire thing. But two things I think need to be addressed.

Which of these are of greater importance: RP ID

And finally, the supposed attacks on the sanctioned vessels for the sole purpose of acquiring a free CAU, if that is true, THAT is an OORP/META engagement in my eyes and needs to be addressed. Beaming them there is one thing, but the penalty of dismounted equipment is harsh since its a beacon of "oh look free stuff" to the right people. A fine for the equipment price would have been a fairer penalty in my eyes.

In fact, i don't agree that punishment was unfitting. I think it was a not-so-real punishment for not-so-real-crime. It fits well. Maybe that's just because i didn't get into sairs lusting for free cau, however. But hey, those are sairs, what did you expect from people reporting that in the first place, and doing all the things they were doing in last years?

Oh, and - brets who invited us, no hard feelings, not your fault, more like it was our fault for grouping, who could know it was the most important part. Looking forward to shooting sairs together more.

Funny , I asked myself exactly the same when I saw the Hessians barging in Cambridge in capships allying with BAF just to pew a base.

And the problem is what, not shooting neutral party with common enemy OR going into system one jump away from o-5 and even in the official ZoI?
