Explain? There's nothing remotely resembling this in the rules.

Imagine if this was actually a rule and I'm out here sitting with like eight characters in 46th| lol
Congratulations! With enforced DMTNT you've just made the most impactful, most emotional and overall best roleplaying moment I've ever had in my 17 years of playing FL: Discovery impossible. Truly heartwarming to see the effort Discovery Admins put into trying to kill the mod and it's community no matter what it takes!
My only joy after reading this new rule is knowing I can and will ignore it in private RPs (which are pretty much the only real RPs happening in Discovery) so despite jammi's best effort I might keep playing Discovery a little longer still.
For anyone curious - I've made a post/epilogue to that best roleplaying moment when I first quit in 2014. I've still got the old screenshots and to this day I'm amused by the fact that it was a completely spontaneous defeat-roleplay between a blown up Pirate Girl and a hot-shot Bounty Hunter - started by the fact that I've been watching a lot of Trigun back in 2009 and getting pretty good in PvP in an Orca (back when it was still a space-Porsche piloted by BHunter hotshots instead of a space-Forklift piloted by morons) and it resulted in the best 3 hours I've ever had in Discovery.
If anything I blame that memory for always bringing me back.
And now jammi made any chance of recreating that experience against the server rules.
What a way to celebrate a 20yo mod - by bringing in a new unprecedented and completely unnecessary rule from WoW just to screw with any of the old nostalgic sods still trying to tell stories in this game.
Again - congratulations!
I am here once again to bring up how badly written this rule is and offer an alternative that gets the point across without annihilating all roleplay because someone is bad at pvp.
2.3 - Dead men tell no tales - when you are destroyed during a hostile player encounter, your character loses all memory of that encounter, other than that their ship was destroyed.
Rewritten - Dead Men Know No Facts - When you are destroyed during a hostile player encounter, your characters account of events becomes unreliable, and cannot be used to enforce roleplay consequences. Characters may still use the memory in personal roleplay, but not to utilize Faction Rights, push diplomacy/law changes, etc.
No one can out boop me, not even an Admin! Boop. ~Spuddo GRAVE REPERCUSSIONS ~Ramke Get booped on, nerd. ~Durandal I wanted to be a part of the party, hi Tails. ~Inferno Pokes are superior boops. ~Naz Get patted, dork. ~Peti
Thank you for taking the time, I will let the team know this post has appeared.

What's the difference?
Discovery is a server of dreams. And I'm a big dreamer.
The difference is if you die in a battle while doing roleplay, you cannot use any form of roleplay done. Tbis eliminates character growth, potential rivalries, gaining new friends due to someone jumping in to try to help, or any form of lawful/unlawful message dumping due to pvp defeat.
With the change, these can take place, provide roleplay opportunities without punishing players for being bad, inexperienced or unlucky in pvp situations.

The sooner this change happens, the better for everyone. It is very sad to have to play sacrificial lamb for others (or vice versa) just so they can get home and do an MD without fearing sanctions.
