Ok here is the story;

After tinkering for about 45 minutes with the Bactrian I decided that its best left as-is.
I tried changing the proportions of the tank and the whole shape of the model fell apart.
Perhaps its for the best anyway, if the tank stuck out too far it would be counterproductive to flying inside the badlands. *imagines fiery crash.*

Now in other news, the Switchblade got game again! At least I hope so. I tried to return some of the hard edges, kept the same overall proportions, but made additions as well.

Also, the upper portion did indeed come from the Scimitar and there is still supposed to be alot of resemblance, I just changed the way the upper chassis was adapted into the new ship type.

(two ortho views to help you get a better picture)

Anyhow, Werewolf and more work on the Amun (see appropriate thread) tomorrow. I did some serious out of town driving today and I am tired out.

Yeah, the new Swithblad captures the characteristics of the BW ship line much better. Good job with those new details!

I can start the house Military ships tomorrow when the poll is done. :)

Since its been asked, I shall endeavor to do the Liberator first.

Keep in mind; my schedule is changing alot right now. this is my one and only hobby though, so don't sweat it too much if I don't move as fast as I did before; I *will* see this through within a reasonable period of time. :)

Umm, I've read some of the stuff in here, and a lot of people are divided, so here's my proposal:

Leave all MK2 fighters as is, use these models to replace the MK1 fighters.

We are a mod, so we change things, and we have different ships. It's understandable that a faction would move a succesful hull design into it's Mk2 stage, and then begin testing of a new hull design down on the MK1 stage.

Way I see it, it makes everyone happy. New ships and yet old MK2's.

Thoughts?

-Seth

That would defeat the whole purpose Seth. The Mk 2's are the result of better technology and they would look different, not the other way around.

Why would an Army/military/anything use a brand new design, when an existing design has proved useful first?

It's like spending 20 years designing the perfect tank, using it, and then realising you can put a better barrel on it. So you do, and then decide that nah, I think I'll bring out a random other design that we just thought up, no idea whether it'll be better or worse, but let's use it more than every other tank anyway...

Uh, most of the changes do amount to the "better barrel". Better parts don't often look identical to inferior parts.

And the Hawk/Griffin one... that's a ship made for commercial marketing. It makes sense to make that look different simply to attract more attention.

Well, if you design the perfect tank then discover that you can enhance about 30 or 40 different aspects or involved technologies on it, the retrofit is going to have a radical alteration to its appearance.

But you're right of course, you don't just throw out the basic good design, but thats why most of the mark-II's, especially the military ones, are so close to the MK-I's instead of total re-designs.

That being said however, the military doesn't test new tech in old planes, at least not as the later prototypes and certainly not in the production lines.

Think of it like the YF-22 and the F-35 joint strike fighter. I know they are not exactly the same in role, but bear with me here. The F-35 is an improvement on concepts pioneered in the F-22, and it shows, but you can also spot differences. They didn't go back and say "Ok, the F-22 works, now lets test everything we develop for the next 10 years on FA-18's"

Personally, I understand why some prefer the Vanilla models, but it seems like the majority would rather see the new MK-II's.
Given that my alterations are not from-the-ground-up changes except in the Griffin's case, as of tomorrow the poll is closed and I resume work on the military MK-II's.

It was an interesting suggestion, and I apprectiate the thought behind it, but since we can't please everyone, ans since the large majority seems to be behind the MK-II's; production continues as planned tomorrow. :)

So, as of tomorrow the debate is 100% closed unless Admins say otherwise.
I don't have any inkling how to turn the poll off, so tomorrow morning Ill grab the final results and put them in a post for posterity, then I will see about finishing the first crack at the Liberator.

Future game-plan; As soon as all the models are done, I'll go back and clean them up for one final parade of the final designs to let people catch any flaws/small last requests, and after that I'll stop taking input and start the laborious task of meticulously hardpointing them to get them ready for submission.

EDIT; Thexare, you have this amazing talent of summing up my doctoral-thesis posts in a single paragraph and ninja-posting it before I finish!
