@sombra I'm not putting words in your mouth, you just don't seem to understand the full implications of what you're saying. You also don't to seem to properly understand what I'm saying, because you raise so many points that are so obviously completely moot by just thinking about them for 2 seconds, I wonder if it's even worth answering to all of them. But anyway...

The RP sandboxes are Skype and closed forum threads that you suggested, where only your buddies are allowed to post. A limited number of zones that are made safe from certain factions hostile to the defense mechanisms are not sandboxes. They're not safe from any player entering them, just against factions that are hostile to certain factions. It's still possible for factions (say navy, near Manhattan) to shoot you, if there is a solid RP justification behind it other than "you have a hostile ID". Skype and closed RP forum threads are platforms "where you don't allow any bad for yourself". Ingame, people that you don't know and that you may not like can come and talk to you and about you. They'll just have trouble blowing you up in that certain location unless you give them a solid IRP reason to.

As I already said, people are going to move out of those safe zones too, for the very same reasons you mentioned for baffin, which is wanting to look for some adventure. No-where did I ever ask for making the entire server or a large portion of it into a safe zones.

All the options you mentioned (3d map, cloak, checking player list to somehow escape) are not comparable to the opportunity to meet and interact with newly met strangers in a way that wont get you killed without constantly having to look out for yourself. They're also not options known or available to inexperienced players. If you read carefully, I never asked for RULES for safe zones, I even explained that I DONT mean that. You're wasting time raising completely moot points just to counter-argue and repeat things that were already explained.

Currently there are no alternatives that protect you from pvp-ace ganksquads that wish to eliminate you because they don't like you, anywhere, unless you can raise the same number and quality of pvpers to defend yourself the instant they come for you, which 99% of the population cant. If you don't know what I'm talking about, don't try to lecture me about it.

So you mean... Capital Planets? Where the docking ring launches Cruiser Torpedoes that are able to instakill a deshielded snub?

You can always dock, or run away the moment they show up.

Your ideas are flawed. The moment you log into the server and undock you are subject to any inRP interaction that'll happen to you. Don't like that? Don't undock.
Now stop whining.

Yes. As long as it's able to effectively defend it's allied faction against enemy fleets.

Remember this is a game and some degree of sportmanship would be expected.

Or, in the words of Saint Denis:

"The large majority that come to play, talk to friends and more importantly, have fun at nobody else's expense. This majority play the Game, make mistakes, learn from them and are generally happy to play the Game without causing any drama. They don't come here to be dumped on by the so called 'Elite', who appear to feel that they are 'bomb-proof' and can do whatever they feel like."

And what was the point of giving that as an answer? Such problems are solved the way that is mentioned in the green text. REPORTS. If you think any pirate that pirates you or shoots has come to grief you, then you should stop being so self-centered. No one came to hunt you specifically. The pirate will move on to its next target after it's done with you.

Besides, this green announcement came MAJORLY because BHG| started to massively hunt A/)- ships for bounty, and they think that they're "griefing" them because they can't handle some inRP consequences they did months ago.

You have enough "safe zones" as it is. Capital Planets, neutral systems, and so on. Not to mention you can always dock.

The point was the content of the quotes.

(08-20-2016, 01:17 PM)Traxit Wrote: Such problems are solved the way that is mentioned in the green text. REPORTS.

Reports which require work from admins, reports which require work and good knowledge of the system for the people reporting it, and reports which most people don't bother making because they either have no confidence in the system or because they'll just stop undocking on the Discovery RP 24/7 server instead.

Very poorly executed straw man argument, since the described scenario was already specifically excluded in my previous posts.

I quoted it for it's content, not for what you think may be its unmentioned underlying cause.

Oi, just let me and the other folks of the 88th log onto our chars, and wait for 5 minutes.
Hostile bombers will soon swarm New York, and after they are messing around approx. 2 Warships will come, too.

And there you have your shadow loggers, all piled up. (sun)

It seems you are here to nitpick on the argument, not on the content of my words. So I'll just leave you with a word of a developer so you can stop your nonsense.

There should be

-places where people can RP in a perfectly safe way (created by game mechanics, not by rules),

-places where there is always PvP going on other than Connecticut because conn is boring (created by bases of factions which are hostile to each other and which aren't 100k+ away from each other, and more liberal engagement rules),

-and places where moneymakers are concentrated, yet spread out enough to be piratable in hit and run tactics (trade concentraded onto a few routes again, and not equally spread out all over Sirius, and several mining fields of equal yield not too far from each other).

Sadly, the population is to low atm to always fill all 3 kinds of places all the time, except if there was only 1 or 2 of each, which would also be boring in the long run.

This is never, ever going to happen.

Yes, a developer who answered with a one liner, without giving any reasoning, not even showing that he even understood what was meant. Who coincidentally also went on "strike" when a bunch of people who were banned for doing the thing this announcement is about got banned.

Except the announcement isn't pertaining to their bans, nor were their bans even really noted to include shadowlogging.

Why give further explanation on a statement that's as clear as day? Dividing a community kills a community. Common sense.

Currently unable to consistently be present in the Community due to life constraints.
