Some one mentioned in this thread about boosting the bomber thrust speed (250-275?) for bomber runs (probably make specialized thrusters with limited energy) so when they make their run they're not absolutely sitting ducks against pursuers. But (and I stress you to consider this) when they have to turn around for another attack/recharge their thrusters, the fighter can take advantage. Granted the agility of these craft are snipped slightly.

Another point I tried to get out somewhere was about making a line of bomber guns/turrets with awful speed but extreme projectile range along with moderate damage/fire rate and energy consumption. This way bombers wouldn't be so often abused to bravely PvP fighters. We could also look into adding more torpedo slots (3-4?) and expanding the array of torpedoes/anti-capship weapons (emp torpedoes/bomber class pulse cannons and finally hull busting torps).

I also thought of possibly making very heavy "dept charges" for bombers with damage maybe 1/3 or 1/2 of the hull busting torpedoes just to make the bomber runs more interesting, of course probably knack the refire rate some, boost up the energy consumption (mines do/can be made to consume energy right?) so their not used by fighters, and of course, reduce their speed so they don't easily track and destroy fighters (unless they're stupid enough to get caught in it's blast radius.)

Then theirs the armor well in combination with the two above, the armor might be able to be left alone. The shielding could be bumped up again to freighter class just so they're aren't completely helpless against fighters and attackers despite the agility nerfing.

I'm not very good at making stats, so I didn't bother/I just got home from work so I won't bother wasting your time.

Make a start by upping fighter weapon projectile speeds - see how that works first. I am sure that fighter escorts will be grateful for every boost they receive.

Up the speeds and you destabilize the fighter vs. ALL other classes. Nothing else to say.

I would like you, sir, to explain to the audience here exactly HOW increasing fighter weapon projectile speed affects the balance of, say, fighter versus cap or fighter versus transport?

Are you telling me that transports and capital class ships can dodge fighter guns at their current speed :crazy:

I put it to you, sir, that unless the fighter pilot is of a very low caliber, that he/she will have no trouble at all hitting a transport or capital class ship with his guns at their current speed.

And THAT means increasing their speed wont make a difference to the balance against these classes of ships...

Let me re-iterate. In the question of balance, you cannot include skill. Saying that you kill loads of bombers in your **** is not particulalry useful. The pilots must be of exactly equal skill to assess the balance.
We don't have that luxury here but we can have general concensus.

If the majority of players think bombers are overpowered, then they probably are. If they feel they are not, they aren't.
If it's sort of 50-50, then that counts as a 'not'.
After a result, take another look.

I'm confused. I think you may have misinterpreted what I said, my previous comment was directed at post 94 by Lancer-X. I certainly never said anything about killing loads of bombers, and I didn't bring up skill.

in the server, there are MORE bombers than caps (and bombers are more spammed than caps, due to bomber is a all-round ship)

It would unbalance things to increase projectile speed - ship dodging abilities would have to be reworked.

Battleship :

They are fine as they are now. Just their use is not understood by all.
They are meant to be using elite weapons that the solaris are !
Against other caps, they should be using a kind of super weapon (mortar) or call for bomber support (that's THEIR job)
Primary turrets should not really exists, we don't see battlecruisers pwn each other in Starwars, maybe targeting specific parts such as radar, maneuver bridge, weapon systems.

Destroyers :
They need really more fire power.
They are meant to kill big targets such as stations, so give them a damn bigger gun !

Gunboat :
The hard thing to balance. I'd say they are already well balanced, all weapons fit their role well but while some can't get hit by a bomber craft (BHG GS), some others are really good targets (Corsair GB, Rogue GB)
I'd say we need more the gunships than the gunboats.

Bombers :
DO NOT TOUCH THEM !
I've seen one idea about class 10 only guns and class 9 faster but I'll give my opinion later on it.

Very Heavy Fighters :
DO NOT TOUCH THEM !
Just make them use a razor and get close to their target before firing.

Heavy Fighters :
They need a few more hull, at least to resist a nuke + collision.
Lower the nuke mine damages is also an option to avoid hull change on that fighters.

Light Fighters :
====> Remove that damned torpedo from this Loki ! <====

My opinion was to give the light fighter the speed they deserve not only on maneuvering but on weapons as well.
We can't hide it, to be efficient, a LF need class 8 guns and that's that guns I'd like to see faster (1000m/s) instead of class 9 ones.
They deal not enough damages for a VHF/Bomber pilot can mind use them so it will really fit the light fighters only, only the eagle/sabre will have to be "nerfed" to class 9 and 10 only since they are the ships that don't have heavy powercore, enough to make someone take class 8 guns.

HFs could use them as well I'd say, they are done to be faster isn't it ?


I know it's hard to get from people, but the fighter/bomber escort for BS are more their own weapons instead of their own they have mounted.
