Junkers are quite problematic, since they aren't as integrated as Hogosha. But then, what they are - actually?

They save houses from scrap the houses produce, that's what I remember.

If they needed to the house could come up with another way to deal with scrap, the Junkers stay lawful by being more useful than problematic. Sure if the Junkers were outlawed there would be some issues that arise for the houses. The question is, are those problems worse than the Junkers letting hostile Battleships and other caps gain safe haven. No, which is why Junkers should play along and tell unlawfuls off that continually abuse there bases by retreating there with cops in tow which is enough for the lawfuls.

None of the governments like the Junkers! And yet they know and require their services.

The Junkers are needed!~ And for this need are tolerated.. The debris fields are growing, and there is no one to collect them without the Junkers. Junkers are well aware of this to of course.

And it's know that with Junkers there will be, unavoidable issues. The Junkers are given a Quasi real status. Despite being know as "smugglers" and having well known criminal affiliations. But there is no one else that provides the Needed services of the Junkers. This need has created over Centuries, a never-told, but strict rule. A very well acknowledged rule. This rule has always controlled Junker and Government relations. - Don't bother us, and we won't bother you. Again there is a reason this is real and centuries old. And yes it can be fustrating for Law factions to be working for a government that for what ever reason. Has to follow this centuries old Strict, Rule. But it's there.

Yes lawful factions can be aware of un-lawful ships docking. Of course. Just like the same government those Lawful work for know there will be "Issues" having Junkers. And perhaps thats why they are not liked by any government. Junkers don't care Of course. And perhaps the base makes copious amounts of profit off of these ships that land on their base. And the goverment the Lawful factions work for know this well enough to. So the Junkers may take some slack. But they know their needed. And if Governments have no choice. Then it can be a tough necessity for Lawful factions to work around this.
No, junkers really aren´t "needed" by house governments and there is not any "centuries old strict rule" about don´t bothering each other. No house would tolerate entity which is harbouring criminals and enemies, especially when they provide supplies to their capital ships.

First, you completely forgot ALG which does exactly same work like Junkers.

Second, Junkers simple scavenge for their own profit, nothing more and nothing less, they are not hired by governments. If debris fields would be real problem, governments would hire some corporation for cleaning. There are many options, because it is not really specialized work when you just collect junk flying in space.

By the way, funny fact - the most "clean" house regarding debris fields is Kusari where - surprise surprise - junkers are not tolerated and are shot/evicted on sight. So obviously they aren´t necessary to ensure there won´t be such places.

On a ragebreak. Or ragequit. Time will tell.

Hogosha cleared these out over centuries, but that's also thanks to pro-green politics of former Kusari Empire.

Nope.

Lawful folks collecting scrap and waste in houses:
Liberty: DSE (secondary or tertiary profile), alternatively ALG (primary profile).
Rheinland: ALG (primary profile).
Kusari: afaik Samura, but if not, then Kishiro (secondary or tertiary profile). Alternatively ALG (primary profile).
Bretonia: I'm not sure about it, scrap removal isn't really emphasised in Bret factions, but my guess would go for BMM (secondary or tertiary profile). Alternatively ALG (primary profile).
Gallia: EFL (secondary or tertiary profile). Alternatively ALG (primary profile).

As you see basically all the houses have their corporations to deal with scrap, ALG being the most famous for their profession, thus not restricted to Rheinland only, may be contracted by other houses too. (Even Liberty during wartime, note how there was an exclusion for them in embargo laws.) Junkers are far not as needed for scrap removal as you may want to believe.

Back to the Junkers - I think the ONLY legit reason for their existence is existence of House Intel factions, which instead of destroying Junkers, they get some info for money about unlawfuls and other houses.

Also, why Junkers are in house space then? Corruption and delicate politics regarding unlawfuls. I say, caps around Junker bases is very ooRP and should not happen. Someone pointed me out that some unlawful bases fit the surroundings - for example, Montezuma or Buffalo, which are a big rock and lawfuls should not know about that base - vessel in question simply "disappears in the thick asteroid field".

This however gave the me quite neat idea at the moment. Maybe in order to fend off capitals from Rochester, let's simply make the scrap field behind Manhattan a very dense one?

Evil idea: surround Rochester with an additional smaller scrap field or with some extra scrap pieces so densely that only snubs, freighters, light and medium transports can pass.

EDIT: Call it "Fortifications á la Junkerdom", if you wish. Big Grin

I also suggest increasing the distance between Rochester and the lanes more. Both parties shouldn't be able to run so easily anymore. Maybe further away in the field or move it to one of the other fields? They are so underused anyways.

make it a little bigger so you can actually jump in with a JD

Back "on topic" ,junkers do clean the space of debris, while as suggested above the job could be accomplished by some other corp it didn't happen yet BECAUSE junkers didn't gave the houses a reason to evict them(except junker congress)
So..they play nice, because they have to,therefor they don't like unlawfuls who bring unwanted attention to their bases
As for unlawfuls, they are tolerated and needed because they can fence the stolen goods and bring them something extra undetected Wink

a good example of how would junkers look on earth is given by "Black Sails" tv show

They don't wanna believe that anyone else does..

I approve these two ideas.
- Make scrap field around Rochester too tight for actual caps and bigger transports.
- Move Rochester itself away a bit.
