“I see…” Quiron didn’t trust in those words. Why did he avoid my statement about they behave as owners? Why doesn’t he stand in front of the gathering and inform everybody about their purposes? They have something to hide, maybe an aggressive takeover of 74? This is distressing. Anyway, it would be wise to not questioning him more. Not yet…

With these thoughts in his mind he addressed the ZA representative. “Thank you for your replies, Mr. Bergrat, they have been noted. If you let me to give you an advice, maybe you should be more aware about your surroundings as well. You are not the only one who tries to make his living out there, so acting on your own like this, even before asking your neighbors’ opinion is quite rude. Every action has a reaction and that reaction may affect others too. Also, none of us would like to experience again the former events like opening fire on a Phoenix installation, I assume.” he watched the reaction of Bergrat.

“If you have any question in your mind, feel free to ask. I think it is a proper place to discuss them.”

"Very well, you have answered my questions and made assurances. I'll honour them as a gentleman and carry on my business." Parkes said, catching a slight whiff of the animosity from Lacroix towards Bergrat.

He would find out more about their problems later, especially if more events turned. The guarding of the corridor was good, but only if the guards could be trusted. His thoughts turned back to the Confederacy and of Gallia.

Anything I say is not intended as offensive, and to try and deliberately misinterpret it as such would be an attempt at trolling via misrepresentation.

It's not a conspiracy, it's localised bias. They're not intelligent enough to form a conspiracy.

"Lee is stroking his mustache" Well lacroix, we've had out faults in the past, we haven't notified anyone due to the fact that our intel suggested the nomads have a device that can pick the signal and intercept it, now that our engineers have completed the outer layers of the station, we feel more secure to let it go public". *Chuckle*

Were fools to make war on our brothers in arms.

“I understand.” he lied. Quiron didn’t see the connection between how the ZA is doing everything without asking other inhabitants and the reasoning he has just heard. Nomads, eh? We are not nomads. “Well, good luck with it. I hope we can strengthen our mutual communication in the future.” he reached out for a hand shake then sat down with a pensive expression in his face.

For what seemed like an eternity, Matok sat and listened to speaker after speaker. It was two things, the Confederation and Gallia. The events of Omicron 74 were irrelevant to him since he never went out there. He was still undecided on the Confederation and any business he had was with Lucky Laroux of Freeport 10.
Quietly, he stood up and walked over to his friends, John Holliday and John Rackham.
"Gentlemen, I have had enough. There is nothing here that will help me. I must return to Freeport 6 and prepare for a trip to Freeport 10."
He shook their hands, "Doc, Ambassador, thank you for your hospitality."

He boarded his cruiser and left for Tau 29.

After hearing all the replies, Richard Cole was disappointed. He saw commander Matok leave. His next door neighbor. Before others would decide to do the same he went towards the stand and once arrived he waited for a few minutes, while everyone kept talking trough each other. It proved they where only showing concerns for their own problems. To talk about each other’s problems and to find solutions they did not seem to care about.

"SILENCE!" he shouts. Everyone is looking at him the silence has returned and all are focused on Richard who is behind the stand. He believes some might have a wrong impression about him now, but for pointing everyone out into one direction he do not care about it at this time. "Now I have your attention. After listening to this whole meeting I think we can better talk about each and every problem and possible solutions for it. My station is within Tau 29, but I do not think only of myself or my station crew. I think of all our common problems within Sirius. Several are mentioned now. I believe that we can discuss them and that we can help each other with our problems. I did hear it before someone saying that it affects us all. And it DOES affect us ALL!"

For a brief moment he made a pause.
"What I did see passing now are several points and I will add myself some.
  • Omicron 74
  • Nomads
  • Gauls
  • Rheinland (OSI)
  • Confederation of Freeports
  • Freeport Defense Force

As you can see we have several points. I want now for each and everyone a discussion about it how each and everyone thinks of the situation. If you think we need to add another point please attend me on it. Now we start where we last did stop. Omicron 74.. It has been a while since I have been there. But I did hear rumors that stations pop out of the sky there lately. I do wonder myself if the inhabitants there have some secret agenda what I am unaware of? Myself I am against defensive grids to seal of a system. I prefer to talk to them and solve it within combat if it is really inevitable."

He keeps standing behind the stand and waits till he has heard all of their responses. Then to make a summarize and carry on to the next point on the list.

Robert thought that the time of his departure is nearing. The points he wanted to address to were made, all the deals he wanted to accomplish on board this Freeport have been done successfully. There was no reason for him to stay other than hearing the final verdict on the Commonwealth's entry in the Confederation and perhaps, spending his time building new relationships and hearing the latest trivialities.

The next moment, Cole made his speech on the podium. This speech reminded Robert to ask the members of the Confederation about the verdict. After Cole finished, Robert stood up and asked so that the people concerned could hear him, but subtle enough so that he won't interrupt anything.:

" Bon fait. Since you have reminded me of the Confederation of Freeport subject, monsieur Cole, I would like to ask the members of this exquisite association of zoners if they can provide me a final verdict whether the Commonwealth's petition is officially accepted or not. I would greatly appreciate the answer. "

He then sat back on his chair, with his fist tuck below his chin, holding it, as he was pondering. Anticipating the next reply he would hear.

Parkes observed Commander Matok leave for his station. He knew the trip would be short. He wondered whether he should stay or leave, considering he had formed new friendships and cordial relations with others, and had benefited a lot already from this gathering.

A small thought struck his head, as he was thinking about his new friend Lacroix sitting next to him. He seemed quite on edge for the entire meeting, and rather doubtful of people. He understood the feeling, but it seemed more intense than a normal feeling of that caliber. He knew what happened in the past, and knew it was a sore spot, but it didn't seem to be the issue plaguing Lacroix.

"Mr Lacroix, I saw you when you arrived in the lobby and guided me in. You seemed slightly irritated at our hosts though, as if they had done something to gain your ire. I know they have in the past, but that doesn't seem like it? Have they done something now? Is there something happening behind the scenes?" Parkes questioned Lacroix with a worried face, his focused eyes had the youthful vigour the rest of his body did not as they gleamed beneath his furrowed brows.

“Does it look like I’m angry, Mr. Parkes?” replied with a small smile on his face. “I can assure you that indeed I’m not. I would say I have grown tired of certain redundant issues that seem to have no coherent motivation behind them at all. I'm afraid that these matters have needlessly troubled my mind and have left me both mentally and emotionally fatigued. Maybe this has made me a bit irritated and unproductive.” he chuckled.

“To make you understand what I’m talking about, I try to lighten you up a bit.” he leaned close to Parkes to make sure nobody hear him. “As I said you previously, I was already present when this conference was announced and organized. Delegates from Phoenix were invited to receive a certain request from the Erisians. In all honestly, those talks quickly spiraled out of control. What I inferred from that meeting is that TAZ is feeling the pressure from the invading Gauls and are willing to go to any extreme to gain an advantage that they believe will resolve the issue. As my personal opinion, without any regard to other Zoner groups concerns or even individual Zoners’ personal safety. Believe it when I say I want to be mistaken on the issue, but my impressions leave my logic with no other conclusion.”

“Anyway, the current circumstances prevent me to get into the details. Perhaps we will have the opportunity to talk it through privately over a glass of wine somewhere in the Omicrons.” he winked. “I rather miss those parts now.”

Behind his focused eyes, Parkes' mind started whirring furiously, processing the information Lacroix was telling him.

"A negotiation with the Omicron's most prominent Zoner group, Gallia invading, safety not being a concern." His mind was juggling all the pieces and trying to arrange them.

"A weapon. It must be." Parkes mind had reached a conclusion. There was nothing else that fit the bill of clues that Lacroix had shared.

He didn't say anything about his conclusion though, because it would mean questioning what weapon the Phoenix had in the Omicrons.

"Mr Lacroix, I think we should indeed meet up for a more private talk once this gathering is over. I think we'll have plenty to discuss." Parkes said, nodding slightly at Lacroix's suggestion.

"Unfortunately though, I'll be a terrible host and you'll have to bring the wine." Parkes chuckled, knowing that Freeport 11 would probably never import Gallic wine.
