good point dusty. sneak doesnt work at all. im not saying i should be able to snak up to an npc's back, but moving around them, at night, 10 meters away, with 100 sneak points + chinese armor should keep me undetected. unfortunately, it doesnt work that way. only point to adding anything at all to sneak is to get into a protected building with some sidearms on you.
For me it's more that there are few environments which promote sneaking. In FO3 I'm in the burned out remains of a hospital. There are 5 extremely pissy super mutants grunting about. Chances are I could take them in a straight fight because I'm the uber main character but, hey, why not stealthy mc stealthalot and stab them where their faces used to be?
In NV opportunities to be sneaky are a tad too rare to justify dropping my extremely rare EXP.
I think my next build, on that note, will be an explosives nut. I really want to use the grenade rifle.
' Wrote:On the note of the DC ruins... One thing I've noted is that there's pretty much no good gosh darn reason to use the sneak skill in NV.
While the Super Mutants were insanely overplayed in FO3... You found good reason to sneak a -lot- through the broken ruins of DC and various buildings. In New Vegas I've found myself in the otherwise unthinkable position of regretting investing any points at all into sneak.
I don't know if I would say that. I always find sneak to be extremely useful, especially so when there are 5 angry Deathclaws sitting in the Quarry and I have to kill 2 of them. Suddenly having a Silenced Sniper Rifle and the ability to duck effectively becomes extremely important. I feel like it's also much more realistic in sneakiness in comparison to Oblivion and Fallout 3, in which I just kind of walked directly in front of Minotaurs and Deathclaws with 100 sneak skill slashing them whenever I felt like it. The challenge is well appreciated.
Quote:On a side note: This game has me very excited for the next Oblivion game. Assuming that they really carry with the lessons and strengths they seem to have picked up from Oblivion, FO and FO:NV.
I agree completely. I kind of feel like this game is more of a sequel to Morrowind than Oblivion, regardless of the fact that there are guns and other stuff which isn't Elder Scrolls stuff. Here's hoping!

Argh. Why did I have to make an energy weapon+speech and other <3 stuff nut? X.x Each being out there in the wasteland considers that pulling a NO U on me is strictly necessary.
And I barely can damage any. Radscorpions' armor is too cool for my lazers to penetrate, Cazadors just kill me faster before I can get at least 25% HP off 'em.
* Aurigae tries for 30 minutes straight sneak around to get to Ranger Camp Bravo with the damn codes. Don't want to waste Stealth Boys.
(Note: Level 10, Leather Armor, Laser Pistol)
Also. Where can I get the dang energy cells/microfusion cells? >_> There's always a shortage so severe I don't even know. Traders don't seem to restock at all.

I had the same problems with Cazadors and Microfusion cells. It takes a while before you can build up a decent stockpile of MF Cells, and killing Cazadors is best left for the Assault Carbine or sniping them from very far away.
[17:45:39] Wolfs Ghost (Murphy): Tom, you have problems. Go kill yourself.
[19:25:12] Johnny (Jam): Tomtom, I will beat you with a spoon.
[14:22:56] Prarabdh Thakur: KILL HIM WITH A SHEEP.
[17:40:48] Eagle (Junes): Tom should be slapped with a spoon.
[11:32:18] Warspite: Thank you for being so awesome Tom. <3
[18:17:36] Metano: I love you tomtom
[20:06:24] Warspite: I will seriously give you epic head.

brotherhood of steel can stock you on those. not sure how much of them though.
Maybeh. Sneaking to Ranger Outpost Foxtrot now from somewhere near Goodsprings. Q_q Fire Geckos, Cazadors, more geckos, even more geckos, oh hey, 6 more Cazadors.... F9, F9, F9, F9, F9, F9...
Makes me wish so much I'd go for some other good build.
At level 10 they are always going to kill you. You just have to find another way or do something else until you're a higher level. It's not necessarily energy weapons, it's just that those flies are really, really hard to kill.
