Because Firefly fans, like oh so many others, are rabid when it comes to their show. Best thing to do is take the Dude's approach, say "well that's your opinion man" and move on.

If I read the earlier posts of Croft in this thread correctly, both the X-Shuttle and the Firefly have their new names, Tranquility and Serenity respectively, proposed. I'm quite fine with those names, by the way.
