@Exile: balance is pretty good as it is now. Capships can't rape fighters, and fighters can take down capships only in numbers. Balance is not the issue, but playability is. Ideal would be to somehow enable fighters to deal with other fighters and bombers faster, but without changing holy balance. Increasing projectile speed seems the best way to achieve this.
Nerfing shields would only make fighters more defensive. Pilots would evade even more and shoot less, which would prolongue fights even more so.

change the settings to 40 posts / page - and its only 5 pages anymore:laugh:- but i think its so long, cause the issue is quite important and affects ... well, pretty mucheveryone, so everyone wants to share the discussion a little - thats what its all for =)
@Jure - It is quite a thing to kill a Cruiser with 2 fighters.
I know i haven't seen it.
Not without Infernos, and Repex can't use those.
Sure at least one of them wasn't a bomber?
@Epholl - And you probably would die, if you used another gunboat.
IMG gunboat is the ultimate weapon to piss of bombers.
Hardest to hit with Supernova (Rogue gb is close, but behind), and yet it has great firepower, in front and in the back.
In an average fight, with average vessels and pilots, fighter and a bomber should be able to take down a GB pretty fast, and GB's allied fighter wouldn't be able to help too much.

It is every Corsair's responsibility to die a beautiful death in defense of Crete, regardless of how OORP or how capwhoring the opposition is. Launch your fighter, joust the battlecruisers and die a beautiful death. Then, drink it down in the bar.
It stinks when the best way for fighter to aid his gunboat is to pass bots instead of actually taking out hostile fighters, or at least force em to evade instead of concentrate fire on gunboat.
Imagine 1200m/s 4.0 refire fighter guns. I bet those would force hostile in ones sight to get out or that predicament, and fast!

You are still pointing in the more hits => faster fights direction
I like less bots => faster fights more...
1200m/s guns wouldn't really change much when fighting 1on1... also that would mean that everyone would switch to guns... and ditch their missiles/mini razor/inferno......destroys variety a bit.
about the support issue....you can always use Debilitators which are easy to hit with... everyone thinks twice about attacking any capship without shields on
anyway both ideas should be properly tested... until they are we are joust talking about what if.
I'm starting to think that all the important things in this thread were said on first few pages :$
Igiss says: Martin, you give them a finger, they bite off your arm.
I was wondering what else can we do about these fights... And an (useless though) idea that was not mentioned here yet came across my mind...
Scaling the size of all fighters up?
...?
Another thing:
Conbination of armor upgrade + hafo nanobots = you get a shot and if its not an instakill you use some bots and fight... It is called "another chance after a mistake". My question: What will change if we will give less chances? More skilled players will have less mistakes, less skilled players more... Combat faster (and perhaps capships a bit safer...)
Example: I was in Moravia, outgunned by a gunship + VHF... I didnt fight well, but I tryed to surprise the VHF by not firing at him and then suddenly a great salvo... took to a bit above 1/2 hull, but then he used bots and I was on the beggining again...not to mention the GS was still firing at me...forced to retreat... (But Ill take you all one day:P)
