A short summary is that I know how to do most repairs on civilian ships, and I while I am no skilled fighter pilot, I also know more or less how to fly a fighter, freighter and small transport. I spent ten years behind The Wall with your people, started to call them brothers and became one of them. I learned that you stand for a great cause. After all, I experienced myself most of the injustice you fight against. It´s time to do my part and help you throw away what is spoiled in this house and kick those who poison it, to make Liberty it what it used to be. Or precisely what it was supposed to be.

During those f***ing ten years in Huntsville hell, I understood that you welcome men who want to take back what should be theirs, have nothing to lose, and are pissed by everyone screwing them over their whole life, mainly by those who do not even speak English, in their own home. I offer you one more.

Answer: As an ex miner working for Universal Shipping, once us talented members of civilisation was thrown, bolted to ensure the logistics of our foothold in Colorado and now made rogue. I'm done with corporation head hunters masking our acts of hard labour through the years within the fields. It's time to strike back, retake a foothold and advantage over corporations and take back what's rightfully ours. My reasons for joining are clear, I couldn't watch for another moment to wait for these corporate criminals to force us to bow down. Enough is enough. I need this, I want this. Let's come together.

We've never met, but if you've come to this cause, then I'm going to assume you've heard my name at least once. For the sake of simple introductions, I'm the Commander. And I want to start off by saying that I'm the Commander for good reason, there's a fierce degree of competition for an elected post like this. As is to be expected. And the reason I won is because of my ability to make effective decisions.

I believe you, I believe you worked with Universal. I'm sure Universal still thinks very highly of you. But you've lied to me, to us. It says it in the name, Ben. Shipping. Universal's a sprawling shipping conglomerate, always has been. So what that tells me is that you're either foolish, which given your eloquence is unlikely, or that you're feeding us a story to seem as if you're truly one of us, which I assume to be the more likely case.

Again, I do truly believe you did work with Universal. But I doubt it was as a miner. I'm sure you're one of those few alleged Xenos getting paid on the side by a corporate interest to target their competitors exclusively. And I don't fault you for it, it's good money. But that makes you a mercenary masquerading as a Xeno, regardless of how fanciful your little speech was.

You're not one of us. And you won't ever be. Find your place elsewhere, I have no use for such pitiful attempts at deceit.

Answer: My crew and I have been supplying you folks for some time now. I've a lot of friends within the Alliance and seeing your plight and that of your average citizen of Liberty on a daily basis has convinced me that I can do more than just run supplies. We're no fighter aces, but we can handle the Linwood. The boys at Milford have agreed to fit her with some thicker armour and overcharge the weapons, It ain't exactly a battleship but we can get the job done given the chance.

Answer: You heard the bits of my story. I'm capable in handling firearms, with specific taste for ballistic weapon modelled after Sol era revolvers; in space, i've been mostly stuck to general logistics, earning a buck or two to make a living and doing occassional escort flights... also, knocking a Rogue dead in one punch does count as peculiar skills?
As for the motivation - you answered the question yourself. Oligarchist regime have butchered my homeworld and left a mark on it's common folk. There's only one way they can atone for taking away their freedoms - by being drowned in their own blood.

I'm not accepting your application at this juncture, primarily because you appear to be inexperienced as a combat pilot. We're a force that operates along the lines of raiding foreign commerce for the purpose of waging a war on the Junkers, hoping to one day oust them from Liberty entirely and then emancipate our fellow men from the system that restricts so many of us.

I want you to think about what you're doing, and to think really hard over whether this is a step you want to take, there's no going back from it. You'd still be valuable to us as a benefactor who can access legal markets and bring us supplies, perhaps more valuable than what you would be as a wanted woman actively serving the cause.

Answer: I'm sure you have an experience of my skills, as we have worked together on more than a handful occasions. I got a knack for unwieldy vessels, mining machinery. ' know a fair bit of ship maintenance too. I guess you figured that much, seeing that the Contender came back everytime, regardless the punches it had to withstand.
My motivation? I'm from Pittsburgh. If that's not enough, I really don't know what is.
