In all case, if a zoner is crying about a CD i launch on them I simply ask 2M or he will get the death !


What a Corsair will do in front of a zoner :

Corsair : Hola sir ! Please stay here, I'll proceed to a scan !
zoner : Hey let me go I'm a Zoner !
Corsair : Okay mate, what about a 2 M credits donation ?
zoner : I said I'm a zoner let me .... *connexion lost*


Now in front of a Zoner :

Corsair : Hola sir ! Please stay here, I'll proceed to a scan !
Zoner : Hi sir. Is it something wrong here ?
Corsair : Hmm could you just say me what you do with that diamond ?
Zoner : I'm selling them at New Tokyo sir.
Corsair : Hmm well ! But what about a donation for los corsairs ?
Zoner : Sure ! *give 1M and go*


In front of a ZONER :

Corsair : Hola sir ! Please stay here, I'll proceed to a scan !
ZONER : Sure sir, I have here a food cargo from the planet Stuttgart.
Corsair : And where are you going to ?
ZONER : To Crete, what else ?
Corsair : Well, go fast i smell some dragon scum around ! *then an epic fight*



Personally their is two cases for me (I'm a untagged zoner with my train (RM didn't let me get a gunboat and i don't want to buy a destroyer for it)) :
The pirate ask me some money, he got what he ask and nothing more !
The pirate let me go and give me his salutations, he earn a nice donation !

then let me put it that way - it is very much up to the player himself to be consequent about what he does. there is little one can do but to hope someone builds up his RP logically. - if a pirate considers zoners the same as normal traders, he is hostile to them. - that does not concern the faction he is a part of.. but only himself.

so - lets say my gaian Glover would tax zoners the same i tax others.... i would make sure that zoners appear the same way in my hud as others... that is red. - that does not mean that the zoners don t like the gaians anymore, or that the gaians dont like the zoners anymore - but it means that as a pirate i weighed my benefits from taxing a zoner against my disadvantages.

if for example - most of the traders that passed me were zoner IDed... and by letting them all pass, i would loose a great deal of cash, i would go for them. - but as a consquence, i would make sure that i am red to the zoners.... so that i don t even get tempted to ever fly to a freeport or gran canaria ( even if its the only place to buy certain equipment )

or - i think - well, there are a great many zoners, but i let them pass, cause when i attack them, i am hostile to them ( only i, not the gaians ) - and i should not fly to a freeport anymore - however, i need to fly there, cause its the only place i can get stuff like a supernova.

what i cannot do is to happily tax zoners and then fly to a freeport or gammu / primus and buy a supernova.... thats simply not working. when i tax them as if they were just normal traders ( IFF or not ) - i must not treat zoners friendly enough anymore as if they still sell me stuff.

zoners ( or others for that matter ) cannot fix that - the player himself must do it. - i wonder how many players really go that way and take the consequences.

there is little pressure the zoners as a faction can do in RP to demonstrate other factions how much they need them - - but there is still some unique equipment out there that only zoners sell ( or faction bases that are often out of reach ) -

i don t mind a pirate to attack zoners - hell, i even wrote in the other thread that i think it would be great if zoners had no trader protection, but could be attacked by warships. - BUT.... those that do it gotto fix their reputation... thats what comes from attacking zoners.

and again... any player with a zoner ID, not just "second class zoners".

i once had killed 2 cardamine smuggling zoner transports as Cheshire ( BHG ) in frankfurt - they were zoner IDed, police tagged - as a consequence i blew up the depots of the freeport at FP1 - that got me deep red to zoners. - i had to work my way up again by assisting the GMG in missions. - i wasn t forced to do it, but it was the "right" thing to do... . i did it cause it was logical for my char, cause i WANT to roleplay it. - and its damn hard as a BHG to faction up with the zoners again without a cheap bribe ( which feels like cheating ) - this taught me a lesson not to mess with zoners again as BHG.

Thats a good point, if you atta/tax Zoners, self police yourself since Zoners may make you 'disappear' and have it blamed on the local pirates... Or they could hire a bounty hunter in RP to take you down quietly.

I often slap my wrist because I feel as though my character has too much empathy for the Zoners. I agree with Carlos, Zoners need to be at least "neutral" if not "unfriendly" in Corsair eyes. However, I also think that in some areas of Sirius, Zoners should be treated more neutral than at other times.

Basically my rule of thumb is, if I don't know you as a Zoner, you're going to be treated like any other individual of Sirius.

It was a Titan/Praetorian, pilot unknown, ship designations unknown.
And even if it was known, do you think that Freeports would forbid access to these persons only because they taxed one zoner?
I think it's much more likely to place a bounty on his head, BHG are always on freeports.

IMO, there's a world of a difference between asking a supposed "Zoner" trader for a donation of credits to allow them to fly through their territory, and the act of war implied after which we should make ourselves enemies of the Zoners deliberately.
People are abusing the Zoner ID to buy immunity.

no, you re going the other way round. - its not the zoners that forbid access... its the pirate himself that abstains from using zoner installations. - if i as a pirate attack zoners, it is i who does not want to go to a zoner freeport. - the zoners there might consider me a customer.

but i must roleplay my own character. - and if i am serious about it ... i don t use zoners anymore when i consider them my enemy / prey.

about "someone in a praetorian" - thats another piece of roleplay. - if we went that way around - we d get a whole more complex world of borrowed gear from factions. - a zoner that was pirated by a praetorian might not know that its a gaian... thats correct. - however, he might know that a praetorian is a corsair ship... and who knows... the relationship ( hence the prices ) for goods sold to corsairs might be raised just a tiny bit more to reflect that.

are the corsairs involved? - not directly.... no. - have they allowed the gaian to fly a praetorian? - yes. thats a sort of punishing someone that has been "innocent" in that particular incident - but in the end, it hits the correct person. - if people dig a bit into it, they ll find out that it is some gaian that is responsible for the bad prices. - and its not gonne be the zoners that will investigate that... but rather the corsairs. - a result might be that the corsairs won t allow any "brand" gear to others than themselves anymore.

so it ll hurt the gaians in the end, too.

but thats a very complex thought there that is not - or cannot be reflected in the game.

but the consequences that i talked about are purely upon oneself. - when i blow zoners up, i try to become red to them, not cause the zoners make me - but cause i want to play ( roleplay ) my char convincingly. - and those that i blow up might not know me, but blowing people up ( killing them ) means that my ( ! ) char doesnt respect / like them much - so i myself try to get them red.

its just about how serious one is about the roleplay. - if i don t want to get zoners red, no one can make me to... its really only upon myself.

also jinx, tag to me is more of the background of a player than anything else.
ive attacked mercs before warning shots in gamma simply because the tag is BH (before changed etc) i but still i get everyones point.

People are abusing the Zoner ID to buy immunity.
