Which is sad because New Hampshire is right there and almost completely unguarded.
its not really surprising the amount of players has reduced so much since then.
if you pick up a ten year old game and think "yea i remember this! i'll give it a whirl!" the last thing you want is to go through the amount of red tape that everything involves nowadays.
you can hardly see the mod anymore theres so much tape just in the way of everything, cockblocking at every turn.

It has nothing to do with that.
Whoever is running this server forget most important thing of all:
this is an online game server-it's about people, not game stats.
Who cares what ship-wep-armour-CD-speed,hit box, turn rate and the rest of the crap there is?Constantly changing, from update to update basic stats of the game is extremely stupid but it's secondary thing.
It's about people. And admins and devs lost it.
All the good people has left.
Most of them at least.
And they won't come back.
When i log in this days-30 players in midnight.
4 times more systems then players online.
Who is responsible?
Whoever is running the server.
Masters of this server did everything possible to destroy every single indi group who was contributing to server activity.
For years now it was more important QQ-ing few selected "vip's"then 10-15 people in groups playing every day-night.
For my time here i seen 4-5 unofficial groups unfairly "incouraged" to stop playing evan though they we're bringing activity wherever they played.
Should i name names?
Apocalipse wing of BHG.
Omicrons we're alive cause of them. And what happened?Cause they didn't wan't to do whatever admin-BHG leader told em to do they we're provoked by vip's(Dab namely)until Joker killed him in his trans, falowed by Bastille and ultimatum of taking tag off or erasing the ships. They chose the latter,of course.
So 10+ cau8 caps and all Omicron activity we're gone.In 4.85 cau8 cap was a big deal.
Joker's thugs...pretty much the same thing, only that time Joker wanted to make event-Sirius pirates against lowfuls-admins waited till day of the evant and forbid whole thing 30 min before start.50+ people felt stupid,Joker rage-quited and Thug's we're gone. After many month of fun for everyone.
Remember CCCR guys? Only time Gallia was alive is when they played.
Yes,they did really stupid thing with they "alliance" with Saires, but Bastilled them and ignore them for 3 month?
Instead teaching them what to do and how to do it...Gallia is dead now as it was before they played.
Rorry's renagades?Omegas we're never more alive when they we're there.
Admins refuse to grant them official status...now pretty much anybody can get official but it's to late.
I don't evan want to speak about Indians...
15 indians online every night,9 of them in TBH,4 of them in [LN],4 in Order|,3 in Samura,5 in OC,4 in RM and so on...bastilled after psycho QQ'ed .One crucial line of explanation:
"We don't like you we we don't like what you do."
Oh,yes,another one-"this is just a warning"
24hours later our ships we're released.
Thanks but-no thanks.
I probably forget many others and i apologize for that.
I'm not evan gonna mention devs buffing faction stats to suit they designated factions.
Most of the old admins are gone.
Most of the old players are gone.
This is still my favored game and pretty much only game i really play.
Unfortunately i think this store will close soon enough.
I'll be here to see it happened.
And i'll still play freelancer after that.
the nomads came in force. in the 200 years since edison trent's tinker toy was turned into a weapon, we were prepared, and this time we were smarter. We didn't send the nomads hurling through the super gates, we sent ourselves. We didn't flee to a different place like we fled from the coalitions' terrible guns, we fled to a different time. Long, long, long before we arrived in Sirius. We flew back in time to the era of the Damned Kavosh.
And have yet to find them.
Sirius is a much, much smaller place. Some systems simply haven't come into being yet - the pulsing pre-supernova stars pregnant with the possibilities of a new, mineral-rich system arising any millennium now.
For a long, long time, we were cooped up in deepest caves that we could find. Most stations didn't make the translation, and almost all of the shipyards were twisted wrecks, mangled beyond repair. Interstellar travel was difficult, and ships are exorbitantly expensive, and the economy has all but ground to a halt, as very few rock asteroids survived, and no ice-asteroids at all. But we were getting by, making a living and rebuilding.
Until we were betrayed.
(Faction) had long been conducting secret experiments on the nomads, and back here, in the dim past, there was no hive mind for the few captives they had collected to tap into. (Faction) thought they could control them. (Faction) thought wrong.
Merging an AI with bioneural processors isn't easy, but it can be done. Merging that cybernetic organism with a young nomad is much much harder, but they succeeded.
And then they started their breeding program. Slaves, refugees and passengers captured by desperate men making bad decisions to feed their families became the brood mares for (faction), but this horrendous fact was hidden from our eyes. All we saw was an army of pet nomads, trading endlessly, rebuilding our economy unceasingly. We even joked about it - the delicious irony of the nomads becoming our slaves. We led indolent lives filled with pleasure. Planetform became the richest faction in Sirius, as they terraformed asteroids to cater for their quadrillionnaire owners' whims. Interspace commerce dwindled, unable to compete with the prices that (faction) could offer - but it didn't matter, as we were all so rich there was no need to work, no need to fly, no need to fight. Wars and bitter interminable skirmishes petered out, as there were no more incursions into respective 'home turfs'. Soon, we were all one happy family.
Until our slaves revolted.
Unbeknownst to us, they had been skimming credits off each deal - fractions of a percentage point, so small that we didn't notice - and diverted this wealth into the coffers of Planetform - who happily constructed a replica of a nomad city for a generous yet anonymous client.
Their wealth kept accruing, and they bought entire museums of artifacts, which they sent around Sirius on profitable tours in the museums they owned, until they shipped them all to their relic city, and activated it.
We had created an army of nomads. We had given them wealth. We had created their cities. We had given them their technology.
We had become the Damned Kavosh,
And this time, there is no place or time for us to run to. Our numbers are dwindled, but we MUST grow, we MUST fight, we MUST prosper, and we MUST never forget.
The ultimate, sad thing is, no matter how good Curios's Discovery 2.0 is, it'd never get done with the current Dev team.
I feel the admin team has been branded a bit unfairly in some aspects, but the Dev team? Perhaps in some regards.
