No mercy for them...let them go with big bang.
I also wonder if they can be sancioned if they don't RP?
I think i can undrstand your feelings, but that is not the solution to make the silent traders to RP or even talk. I'm more of just finish the RP part and then PM him trying to explain that this is a RP server, Said that I'm not having much success though... (and I'm not always in the mood to talk to a wall)

Only if they attacked you. There was one player that got close to getting sanctioned recently for something similar. A miner was given a demand by a pirate and he decided to shoot his ore and tell the pirate to just kill him. I thought that was a bit OORP, but we decided to take no action.
That scenario always annoys me, where a trader/miner would rather die than give the pirate his demand. Makes me want to institute the 2hr rule for traders as well, but I'm unsure if that would even help the situation.
I think that this wont solve the situation (would be a nice patch at max), we need some kind of tool to show what is RP, perhaps an event where people meets and do theatre in front of other? some kind of connecticut for RP??

And out of topic; I'm not always agree with what you say, but I have to recognize that you have a wealthy sense of humour.

Eh...There is already no exception for traders to that rule anymore, only exception is, that IF they can get away and dock, they don't have a PvP death.
Quote:...
3.2 A player who was killed during a PvP fight in any form, must not enter the system where the fight took place or re-engage the attacker(s) for 2 hours from the time of their destruction, or until this/these ship(s) leave(s) the game.
...
3.4 Fleeing from combat and then docking at a station or planet while you are in range of the ship you were fighting counts as PvP death. Trade vessels are exempt from this rule.

A lot of them just laugh and go along with dying anyway. It's not like they only have one trade route.

You know how it goes when we meet silent one?
I guess you do..
I; Hello sir
Me again; cut your engines to full stop!
He is trying to engage cruise speed, I CD him, he is flying with full thrust speed
Me again: stop sir or I will open fire
Well what can you explain to him?
He is not new..he is in BT with CAU6 or higher...
..so what can you possibly explain to him??
I would suggest some kind of high repair costs for big traders...
Soo we can do some demage to them and then let them go..
Let them have high repair bill.
I had few encounters with you Murcielago, and all were quite enjoyable. Product of that is that when I see your pirate char on my radar I know that the interaction will be pleasant for both of us 'cause your demands are OK and you provide good RP.
But on the other hand, there are many that just don't give me that pleasure, and the moment I see them they ruin my game because I know that they will ask for ridiculous amount of credits considering my cargo, and their RP is based on only to extract as much gain (virtual money) as they can, outcome is often me being blown. They never consider feelings of player on the other side and precisely that creates said revolt mostly resulting in denying the other side what they came for.
I am never silent but I understand people that are. Although there is a portion of people that don't fully understand the concept of RP server and need to be educated, but in a less brutal manner then you propose.
But other than that I think it's just revolt.
Shooting the gear of the ship costs much to repair, isn't it? Well, if you kill off an Enhanced Thruster, that is almost a million to replace. Also with the other stuff, for e.g. shooting off the shield generator.
