I'm usually on my Unioner in Munich most week days. But yah pirate wise I am usually there alone. I do see Hessians pop up in Dresden every now and then.

I mostly pirate in the taus, sigmas and kusari with the Junker Marauders mostly. Sometimes I'm in Lib on my PLR.

The lacking amount of faction traders(there are some new factions popping up though) mean that the ships you do run into(be there very little) are indies, who most often don't go for the full spectrum of RP that one can offer... Besides, indies are harder to track because of lacking tags...

I blame beefed up transports, gates, and bases that exist too close to each other. There just aren't enough points where traders have to risk traversing a distance that they can't survive on thrusters while under fire.

Transports have become very difficult to stop if the player has any idea what they're doing. It's currently all hinging on the traders willingness to RP it out and the pirates patience. None of those exist right now.

I'm sleep deprived 90% the time I play disco, the few times I encountered a pirate I payed them and they killed me.

I would like to pirate in my indie salvager, but unfortunately it has no CD due to "balance" Sad

i don't think im too wide of the mark when i blame introduction of jumpdrives and cloaks.

in the past, pirates could hunt down traders.

now, they can jump-trade, and if solo, they can cloak and run. if you're quick you can fire cd's at them and just trail them until they run out of cloak fuel, but you might run out of cd's too.

im not sure if the dev's anticipated this when they introduced cloaks and jumping - igiss certainly did, as he once said 'no cloaks ever'. it has certainly messed up the balance of the game.

to restore it, and keep the shiny new toys, i'd restrict jumping to combat ships - they have the armour to withstand the stresses of phase space, or something, similarly cloaks too - cargo ships are too big to have a cloak; caps can manage it as they have a much larger powercore, and fighters are nice and small, so they can create a pinch field around their snub utilising the feldman effect (apologies for rubbish pseudoscience made up on the spot).

to restore activity, restore piracy, in the centre of the mod - Moka, Im looking at you - cos extreme piracy in liberty will drive out the traders into the other houses, and then the pirates will follow them there.

too many toys have been given to us to make our lives easier. when there was grinding, you had to rp at the same time. Now it takes me exactly 5 mins to set up a ship, as opposed to the 45 minutes before.

For keeping a record, I just have managed to encounter 5 Pirates in 3-4 months !!!
and I flew my Traders all over the entire House spaces during those time.

That shows, Unlawful/Pirates participation have really lessened to an inconsiderable margin.

Am I the only one who actually likes not being pirated all the time?
