  1. Don't ever shoot anyone, PvP is bad roleplay.
  2. Have as unusual a character as possible. A highschool drop-out navy character is a no-go, that's way too mainstream. You have to be a pacifist who joined up because of the Gallic threat instead, but who still despises conflict and violence and so struggles with his own feelings all day long (and doesn't ever PvP).
  3. Once someone's roleplay quality has been quantified, subtract one point for every blue message they've ever earned on the server.

Jezus, I just read the thread. The sarcasm here is thick enough to thrust against.

A good RP is when you discuss your past, present and possibly future endeavors with your enemy. Then you're going to discuss for no less than 5 minutes how you're going to kill them and only then you should actually shoot at him. Bonus points if you RP the fight with words instead of actually playing the game.

Jokes aside, a good RP is progressing your story in a way that makes sense, be it on the forums or ingame, with words or with guns. There are no true guidelines and there'll always be people who'd tell you you're doing it wrong, because things aren't going their way, but that's what RP is about - being dynamic and having to deal with the situations ahead, whether you like them or not.

Ah, the bitter veterans climb out of their caves once again.

Good roleplay is hard to define.

Playing your role in an expected manner is as good roleplay as someone who is unexpected or unique. If a naval official refuses to take a bribe and tries to arrest someone, that is, by definition, a good play of their role (Hence the term).

It's difficult to say what's good or not, but generally so long as it's believable and coherent, and the player is trying, it's in the realm of 'good'.

+1!

It's ineed difficult, becayse, diffrent people do evaluate diffrent aspects of RP. How unique your RP is, or how realistic, or how fun, or how do you behave yourself in game. So, every attemt to RP and not ruining other's fun can be considered as 'good'.

So I was roleplaying the best ace fighter pilot in Sirius.

Then someone shot me and I died.

Powergamers these days.

Isnt it obvious, skype ( atleast now it seems ) - before even doing a bit of rp, and immediatly you get nuked with upper-case comments of how it isnt real, fair, normal, logical - but that shouldn't be a reason to step down, as a matter of fact, the more people rejecting it the better, just proves you are in the right way.

Were fools to make war on our brothers in arms.
