And I already said PvP only setups are quite possibly sanctionable.
Breaking any of the basic rules will get you a nice sanction.
This is still an RP server first and foremost, so you have to actually Role-play your ID. You can't go around with a freelancer ID and shoot up lawful characters without a REALLY darn good reason. (NPC's - those are sort of another story - rep fixing is a pain.)
Quote:Whoops, one more question guys, any idea how to get rep with the Freelancer faction?
Work at it VERY hard.
Seriously - I've got a character with almost 125 hours of in-game play - and he's only managed to get his FL tag up to 3 1/2 whites, while having 20 plus tags full or nearly full green. Fortunately, this is a game of ID, not IFF tag. So it's okay to have a police tag and freelancer ID - you could just as easily have a Military tag and freelancer ID - actually you could have just about any lawful tag and freelancer ID and be good.
You'd have a hard time explaining a corsair, Xeno, or other criminal tag and freelancer ID, though.
(Mercs are different stories altogether.)

No it's not. That's a great setup for a freelancer. You get the benefits of having the ability to use the weapons you want but the bane of only being able to fly a gunboat or smaller. Theres nothing to indicate whatsoever that:
1. the corsairs would not sell you the tizonas.
2. the outcasts would not sell you the krakens.

For now I guess I'll avoid having a tag altogether, right now I'm focusing on getting a decent ship (Marsflyer) and some decent weapons. I also have an RP story I think I can write based off the Marsflyer so maybe this character wasn't such a bad idea afterall...

You completely missed the meaning of that statement. A better way to word it would be: "What -hardware- setup is sanctionable for a Freelance?"

No, I fully disagree. It's wicked easy to get both weapons here. All you need do is dock on some out of the way 'cast and 'sair bases when no one is around, and walla! The classic overused PvP setup!
This is an -RP- server. Using pure PvP setups at all is a big no-no. I don't think I'm the only one who doesn't want triggerhappy Mercs and Freelancers flying around with super-PvP setups. Is that what you want?
EDIT: A Marsflyer? I applaud you if you can pull of good RP in that, but it -is- being replaced in the update, so your story won't last.

It is? Argh, I had an idea floating around about how my character found it (a backstory I guess), but its ok.
So I guess I need a new ship before they come out with 4.85?
You can use the Marsflyer, it just will change to the alien looking Harvester ship upon update. You could always plan for that RP, and adapt on update.

Are you saying there is some reason that a freelancer would have for using an inferior setup? You would have to role play that out beforehand or else it would be OOC bigtime.
There is nothing in the game to indicate that the Outcasts would not sell you the krakens and there is nothing in the game to indicate the corsairs would not sell you the tizonas.
As far as the nobody being around part, thats up to each individuals RP. Some of them care some of them don't. As i said before you have to pay the consequences no matter what, but if youre not going to be hanging out where corsairs do, its highly unlikely that it will be an issue unless some rules lawyer comes along.
So you want every FL in a fighter flying an Eagle with Tizzies and Krakens? Because that's the "uber" setup. Otherwise it's ooRP for them to be using "inferior" hardware? That makes no sense.
My Freelancer flies a Nepthys with Skyblasts. Is that ooRP because the Nepthys is a slow boat and Skyblasts use too much energy to be that great (they do...). Freelancers need to have variety, they fly everywhere and forge various relationships. -Thats- in Freelancer RP. Variety, not the age-old killin' setup.
As for the acquiring? "In RP" the Malta ground control would -not- let you dock if you had Tizonas equipped. The Freelancer could whine and moan all he liked that he "killed Outcasts and looted their weapons". Malta, Ibiza, or any other Outcast base would -not- allow a pilot with their enemies weapons to dock. So if you are docking like this and buy these weapons, you're ooRP. And if you tried to request this RP in the assigned forum, you'd get shot down.
Sorry if I seem hostile, but I do not like pure PvP setups on Disco. Period.

in the immortal words of the Dude
Quote:Thats just, like, your opinion man.
Why not? Theres nothing in the game that says that. Not even implies it. They let trent dock with any setup he wants in SP. Theres no player playing as ground control. Some outcast players would allow it, some would not. Theres more than one OC faction here mayybe each has their own rule. However if they aren't there to enforce it they cant say anything about it.
and thats JUST for docking. There is NOTHING preventing arms dealers from selling me cids. There is NOTHING OORP about landing on Crete, buying del cids and then selling them to anyone.
