If it is well done, which would mean sophisticated and realistic content, then yes.
If it is just like the rather stupid /s spam that one normally encounters, a fat no.
It would be cool to have news broadcasted, and advertisement, etc... like a radio show.
But all of this would likely take considerable time and effort and from what I read, this is more like the trash-/s-ing and therefore rather undesirable.

/s spamming is definitely uncool. This thread is a result of brainstorming in some chat I'm in. Conclusion of the discussion was sort of RP product advertisement would make our world feel more alive - for example CardiCola inRP adverts.
This thread's purpose is to see what people think about it, how they wouldn't want to see this done (silly spamming is a nono), and how would they react if it was done properly.
I agree with you, if done correctly, one would probably need to invest a lot of time and effort into it.

iirc Broken Bonds had something like this going on with faction logos and other advertisements being displayed on billboard things by tradelanes. Although I'd bet that @jammi or Capt. Morgan can clarify on that.
Me and Tharog used to have a radio show in Liberty. HellFm, yep, hellfire legion radio. We didn't spread propaganda or spammed the system, we were both talking in /s for like 2 minutes, and then we would "play a song" for eg. every time LN were there, we would play "In the Navy". We would even take calls from people in system, interacting with them or take song requests. I'd do it. Would want to have a little more than just repeating the same text over and over. Maybe some kind of recruitment agent or saleperson or something could be cool

Partially transparent holograms that you could fly through for that authentic "space billboard" feel. We were actually discussing these yesterday in the Bowex chat, so it's funny they'd come up on here as well.
Before servers went down, I said exactly what you are showing jammi, but someone came and told me how impossible that would be to do and how much someone would have to work to updated every banner weekly or monthly. My ideea was a bilboard for events near the capital worlds of every house that would promote that weekly event if there was one so people that don't spend a lot of time on forum could attend to events that doesn't require sign up or just members that missed that said event.
