maybe I should just publicly disclose the vulnerability I spotted a while ago. It’d probably kill the game.....

How about doing it privately to the admins? Of course they may not be able to do anything, or may not be bothered but it is certain they cannot do anything if they do not know. If it is the root of your problem then it will already be a factor in killing the game.
