It is. It's more realistic. You got to keep your army supplied when it's out, and dubble that in foreign lands. Also, all generals have gained special traits which greatly affect armies and economys.

I'd suggest you try it Evan. I had the same "problem" you had, and i think this will be quite some more win.

Dab, you can win 60 - 960 armies without much trouble if terrain and circumstances are right. For more challenging game, get stainless steel and human oponent.

No, try 1,200 vs 7,600. The Roman Empire.. Died. I lost 600, only half my army, and the only horseman I had were two General's bodyguards (70-80 total). And that was on flat ground.. As are most of my battles.

Yeah yeah yeah:PEveryone can talk, get us some proof!

Anyway, just got my ass handed to me by the scots. One of my best generals had been campaigning in scotland for <20 turns, took Aberdeen and Edinburg, then faced 3 full flagged armies and William Wallice. Since i lacked any form of archery in my army, and had one line filled with all forms of infantry, the other with heavy horses and light ones against 75% spear, rest heavy, i sort off died. Killed their king, Wallice, and some sorda General. Mine was quite an honorable guy, and was actualy the last off all the troops alive.

I entered with 2200. 18 survived. (Prisoners executed, which pee'd me off and is the reason for my construction of 2 bigger armies)
They had a total off 8000 i believe. About 2300 made it out alive.

Overall, i think i still have win, and don't mind (not much) losing the army in such a good way.

If you want a good Medieval 2 mod that isn't Stainless Steel, try The Long Road. I far prefer it over Stainless Steel and it overal seems more stable.
Both are good mods but I prefer The Long Road more.
That said, both are based on a fantastic game. Honestly, the original Medieval Total War was brilliant but this one is even better.

Try having 6/7 Turk or Egyptian armies full of low level men against an elite force of spears etc in a custom battle. Crank up the unit size to huge and watch the slaughter. I honestly have never seen so many bodies in a game before:rolleyes:

In regards to campaigns, they are far too easy. If you have 1 or 2 cavalry units, you can wipe away far larger armies.
Nothing like taking a west Europe country and dominating the known world though:P

I've gotten to where I like to do strange things. My last game I migrated the Russians to Egypt and then abandoned Russia. It was really fun playing them in a different part of the world. I've also done that sort of thing with the Holy Roman Empire and the Sicilians.
