I haven't noticed any particular lack of pirates. They're not all over the place, but I don't think they ever were. NY gets tons of them, good ones and bad ones, and it's not uncommon to find them in Sig-13 or Magellan. Bretonia tends towards being empty of everyone, so you don't see many there (though they show up in Cambridge on occasion), Rhineland only gets traders for the diamond/niobium route, so any pirates that would be there are instead in Sig-13, and I don't spend enough time in Kusari to comment, but I do occasionally see the KNF blowing up someone or getting blown up by someone (not including the BAF).

Lot of BH capwhores decrease numbers of pirates.. yep thats true. For example yesterday 3 battlecruisers "hunting for free" in NB;) If you use online status for that, you can see few BH cruisers permanetly move from NB to NT and back almost every time when is server "full".

I dont care if they are just finding encounter, Im in omegas but doing work of police or army "for free" isnt good way how to increase RP in those regions where they are... GUYS JOIN RM OR KNF OR GMG if you want help against pirates on diamond road... dont hunt poor single bomber in sigma with your battlecruiser, that dont make you a man;)

Nothing a few angry scorpion gunboats can't solve! Time to Wilde mission spam Sigma 13 and then lure Bounty Hunters to their deaths! Muhahaah!

It's very, very helpful for traders and pirates to think about (and why not have them setmsg) couple of replies to different situations.

As a trader:

like TL is cut:
"What's happening? ... The TL has been cut! Pirates!"

You decide to play along (at least for the time being):
"I'm cutting the engines."

if you enter cruise:
"The company policy states that we are not to stop under any circumstances."

or the pirate RP is 2 mil or die type of thing:
"WHAT!? Outrageous. I think we can negotiate about this."

After making known that you are willing to RP it out you can continue how ever you see fit.

A trader that really wants to RP it out uses local chat as a courtesy to the pirate so that he won't get gang banged by the lurking BHs. I know it's a bit OORP, but it's a very clear signal to the pirate that you don't want to call for help publicly.

As a pirate:
a trader is a faction enemy of yours. Then the pirate's RP should be even better.

"Halt trader. No one needs to die."

You have scanned him and stopped:
"Well, what we have here. What a pleasant surprise."

He seems like he's about to take off or you just want to warn him.
"Don't do anything stupid like trying to cruise."

Then comment about the cargo and stuff like that. Try to think up a reason why you are demanding and what.

Do not make insane demands. Unless you are sure that this guy is actually willing to RP this out. Then you can go the whole way of demanding him to drop all his cargo or what ever.

It's not that hard really with the setmsg. If you need instructions how to do them: http://discoveryfl.com/wiki/index.php?ti...r_Commands

For example for pirate:
for halting the TARGETTED player.

/setmsg 1 Halt #t

and then when you target a player, say named silent.bob, you can type in the chat

/1

which will print out to chat

Halt silent.bob

Flying under radar.

loogas: and that comand is working yet?

when I was trying it last time a weak ago it wasnt working (or I did something wrong)...

... without setmsg is imposible to be succesfull pirate and talk too much.... you know BH cruiser just 1 sector system from yours, you need to keep TL killed, most of traders constantly try to cruise, some dudes blabling in public chat about their favorite movie and you must use online status where is chat history too to check what trader told you before because dudes with movie spamed it.... and everything in same time. Without setmsg there isnt place for "movie" dialog.

EDIT: yes it is working... I was doing it wrong :ylove:

btw BH capwhoring point still reamain

I am Black.Pearl ... I think I would know what I do with my own character. The last time he pirated was about 2 months ago.

Eh? Perhaps Hessians and GC should start coordinating cleanup sessions of Sigma-13 like the good old times? Not even a Corsair + BHG cap invasion from two sides could stop us:P

GMG could care less about pirates in Sig 13. GMG and Rheinland are not exactly friends ... they were at war with each other ... remember. The whole debris field in Sig 13 is the remains of that war. Since the diamond/niobium run brings diamonds from Rheinland ... GMG could really care less if that trader moving the diamonds gets nabbed or not. So ... don't see much "role play" in GMG coming to the aide of traders supporting their non-friends.
