I don't think the 'elected' players should gain any admin powers or such at all. Less chance of corruption of sorts...

I actually like the idea.

Say the high ranking members of the LN, LSF, and whatever else got together and elected one person to be president of Liberty. Then a form of constitution can be written up, limited of course, by server rules. There are already certain people and parties banned from places anyways so that wouldn't be new.
It would depend on the form of government though, some would be more strict than others and harder to control.

I did roleplay for a little while the president of Liberty under the luxury liner LNS-Star.Force.One. it was fun, great deal of rp available, I had live argumentative speeches with xenos and outcasts.

whoever gets elected can have a great role, you can be sure of it.

If elected, I will rename the Liberty Navy 'The Brute Squad'.

Note that, playing the emperor or president or whatever doesnt necesarly requires the need to control players around. I did manage fine, and I think I managed to gain enough respect in my role to be generally accepted by a bunch of people - although none knew my identity on forum.

Re-Thinking my Opinions on this I would like to see some type of voted goverment.

Though the person in which controls said goverment must abide by a whole
new set of rules.

Rules that would include:

-No banning of persons unless under extreme measures

-No calling an army to extinguish a person for a crime
they may have committed unless involving something of high importance.

and so on.

In my thoughts I would say yes it is a good idea. But the idea
like many radical ones. Involves some tweaking.

As long as the goverment doesn't force players to do something they don't want
to I believe it should be all welcomed.

EDIT: oh and I always use a type of orange. It matches my sig but Ill stop
after this post

Accual Moderator edit- I stopped it for you by fixing your previous posts. Using shades of green & orange creates creates confusion for others unless it comes from an Admin or a Mod

Gentlemen, how about this: Rather than electing a single person to be the "be all, end all" undisputed leader of a single house, how about create a parliament/senate where a group of representatives would discuss possible resolutions, eventually voting for those to be put on paper and into law? This could make for some interesting RP without putting too much power into the hands of a single player. And in the end it would be up to the military players to decide whether to enforce it or not, considering regardless what they do it will be good RP all round.

We can still have someone RP the local president (Liberty) /chancellor (Rheinland)/prime minister (Bretonia)/shogun (Kusari), but adopting the gentleman's rule of not abusing said power to do ridiculous things.

Remember that time in discovery moves as fast as real time, and elections only happen once a few years. President Powell or Chancellor Reinhardt aren't going anywhere anytime soon, at least not legally:PHence, my suggestion..

I would like to second Blodo's idea. and add to the line of people that he put down.

For the Order they can have a Grand Admiral and for Corsairs some long spiffy spanish title

I've been poking the LN about the Presidency for a good while now, they don't seem to be eager to let me play as Powell >.>

Basically, this adds a hell of a lot of depth to Disco. Right now we have military organisations controlling everything. Apparantly dictatorships are the way to go in Sirius, yet each house tends to have some form of representative body in RP, just not with players.

So perhaps it's time to form the first government?
I do believe the Junker's Congress is something along these lines already, a great step forward for the Junkers and hopefully something we can replicate with the others:)
