Quote:Firefly/Serenity, all the way. Starwars never put even a glint as much effort into developing the millenium falcon as an actual 'character' of the story as they did with serenity. Both the series and the movie make you love the ship, despite most people thinking its an ugly wreck. The millenium falcon was never really a 'focal' point of starwars, it was just there as part of a ridiculously large universe, while serenity was the home of every main character in the firefly series.

Plus, serenity did a far better job of creating a "western in space" than starwars ever did. If the two shows had been developed at the same time (starwars has a bigger fan base just because it's older), and if firefly had not been pulled from the air after the first season, i'm positive that we'd have more votes for that ship here.
That's the thing, you have to take into account the gravity of each ship. Star Wars and its story is massive, not a story about the Falcon and its crew. Firefly is named after the ship itself.

But in that regard, you can't say one character is better than another just because you know a bit less, and see a bit less of one. In reality, the Falcon actually has loads of story behind it. You just have to read the fiction, not watch the movies, since they focus on the big picture.

As for a western in space, yeah, Firefly did that. Better? Star Wars never tried to create that. If anything, they created a super-advanced dark ages. Swords, knights, etc.

The thing between the series is that one was a breakthrough for its time. Nothing comparable or as deep and complex as Star Wars was around for the sci-fi genre. B-movies, sure, but sci-fi universes? Little to none, not to mention nothing so grabbing.

Then we have Firefly, which is an idea that, while good, had been done, perhaps not in such detail and light, but done all the same. It's an excellent series, I enjoy it, but it's not a breakthrough and as grabbing as Star Wars. So while the Falcon is such a small part of its universe, it's still the vastly more well known and liked name due to the reputation and life that Star Wars had and has.

It was close for me, but I just am more enamored by the Star War universe than the Firefly/Serenity one, with its unlimited facets and stories. Hence the Falcon won in my book, even though it's got less air-time and story. (Though I've read most of the books, so not really.)

Well if we are gonna talk about design the Millenium Falcon was modeled on a hamburger when ol' man Lucas ran out of design idea's and the stupid cockpit pod sticking out in a very unhelpful place (should be in the middle) was based on an olive he saw peeking out of the bun.

The Firefly shall allways in my mind look like a duck, and the series Firefly did NOT float my space ship so to speak. So Burgership all the way! But not a patch on the Sharlin Class Warcruiser from Babylon 5.

Id go with serenity here. Falcon is simply ugly saucer with way too wide engine part making it look wierd. Besides, asimetric look is fail.

I like the Serenity more than the Falcon. Han Solo's OK, but I might be biased since George Lucas systematically created then destroyed my childhood (*looks at Star Wars 1,2,3, and Indiand KotCS).

Its only a shame the Firefly model in Freelancer is so horribly... BAD! I wish someone would make it look half-decent. I would fly it then. It just makes me want to smack the dude who made the skin whenever I fly it.

The Falcon is the winner because the vote is unfair.

The Falcon is in 6 flicks (& 3 of 'em completely changed the way movies are made) & has over 30 years of geeks geeking out over it. Serenity is in 14 episodes of a failed TV show, (but at least has the distinction of being the only movie in history to be made from a one season cancelation) & only has 7 years of geeks geeking over it.

I vote for the Serenity, 'cause it's in my nature to always be a sucker for the
