I sure could take the Norfolk... This Dunkirk at least can't be destroyed. It's sad I won't get to actually fly it, but I suck in a BS anyway and I like the freedom of smaller ships.
Well, according to our official BAF RP, each of the 8 stationary battleships are the Headquaters of the 8 "Great Fleets", with each one being commanded by one of the 11 Admirals of the Admiralty Board.
Therefore it would make perfect sense for our 3 Admirals (including Andrew Stuart) at least to hold command onboard one of the 8 BSs, as technically the rank of generic "Admiral" isn't supposed to exist in the BAF - they have to be "Admiral of the Essex Great Fleet" or "Admiral of the New London Planetary Fleet."
The Fleet Admiral would either be stationed on the Harlow, where the Admiralty Board sits, or more likely onboard the mobile Pendragon Flagship (though other senior officers could fly the Pendragon in the Fleet Admiral's absence)
As for Commodores and Captains, whilst they would not technically command the Great Fleets of the Battleships, Commodores might hold command in place of a couple of old/fat/lazy/busy Admirals who can never be present - e.g. Lord Admiral Fairfax spends all his time in the House of Lords - he can't be present to command the Suffolk Great Fleet so Commodore Nelson commands in his place / Admiral Marlborough is 86 and cannot walk, he only got his title due to his families nobility, in practice Commodore Mainwaring has command of the York Great Fleet.
The Captains probably wouldn't command the fleets, but they might be Flag Captains of the Battleships themselves (A Flag Captain is a Captain of an Admiral's Flagship) - in charge of the Battleship's Defence, and escorting fighter wings. e.g. Captain Sir Roger Brinkley is the Flag Captain of the Suffolk, under Command of (npc) Admiral Spencer but still in charge of the Battleship itself.
These would be the various RP explanations for what we are doing. Personally I like the idea - if there are lots of BAF online they could be assigned to different Flag Officers who could organise training exercises around their respective battleships, or mount patrols from them.

Seems nice and all, of course, if able one of rank should have an actual dunkirk and have it stationed somewhere, with the added benefit of being able to re-station it, though.. currently battleships dont really act anything like the stationary ones, being giant weaponplatforms that barely move and all, restricting them to mostly defencive operations with the exception of major fleet movements, is all you can do. (not like we use battleships for every tom dick and harry invading bretonia all the time anyway).
but I think having non-dunkirk owning captains and such could have the stationary ones (for mostly RP purposes), being under "command" of a region doesnt really matter in real terms, as rank usualy makes it clear at most engagements, anywhere they may be.
um...no I don't think he is. That would cost Billions of credits. It is just meant to be a RP tool - we can't actually "control" the Battleships in any way. But we act as though we can. More for prestige and RP than actual practical use.
In terms of who should have what - wouldn't the Blunt and the privateers be better off with the MacDuff than the Derby, as it is to some extent "behind enemy lines" i.e. seige of Harris
The most important ones would probably be in this order:
Derby
Norfolk
MacDuff
Suffolk
Essex
Ark Royal
York
Grimsby (god help the poor officer asigned to the Grimsby. I wouldn't be surprised if the Admiral of the Grimsby Fleet never turned up for work, it's so isolated)
Not sure that Harlow really has its own Admiral, according to our faction info. A Captain maybe though.
I would quite like the Norfolk or Suffolk if possible, if not then the Derby or York. *bribes Fleet Admiral*

Hmm, maybe so. I may have read his original post wrong.
